An operation display apparatus includes: an operating unit; a display unit; a position detecting unit configured to detect a position of a predetermined portable terminal; a free region detecting unit configured to detect a free region on a display screen of at least one of the display unit and the portable terminal; and an operation control unit configured to display an image of the operating unit in the free region when the position of the portable terminal detected by the position detecting unit is in front of a front side of the operating unit, and accept an operation performed on the image, as an operation received by the operating unit, the free region being detected by the free region detecting unit.

In one embodiment, a system includes a processor and logic executable by the processor. The logic is configured to cause the processor to: capture video data using a mobile device, the video data comprising a plurality of frames; determine whether one or more of the frames depict a document exhibiting one or more defining characteristics; determine whether one or more of the frame(s) determined to depict the document also satisfy one or more predetermined quality control criteria; and in response to determining one or more of the frames depict the document and also satisfy the one or more predetermined quality control criteria, automatically capture an image of the document. A system displays an image using a plurality of projection type display devices, and is capable of reliably notifying a user who uses the system that an error has occurred in a certain projection type display device. A slave includes a display unit that projects and displays an image and a signal receiving unit that receives data transmitted from a commander. The slave includes a detection unit that detects an error in the commander on the basis of the receiving conditions of the data in the signal receiving unit. The slave includes a display control unit that, when an error is detected by the detection unit, makes the display unit display an image showing that the error has been detected.

An image forming apparatus that executes information sharing among a plurality of image forming apparatuses includes a communication circuit, a set value management circuit, a storage circuit, and a distribution hold list management circuit. The communication circuit ensures communication with another image forming apparatus of the plurality of the image forming apparatuses. The set value management circuit distributes, based on a master authority as an authority for distributing a changed set value to the other image forming apparatus, the changed set value to the other image forming apparatus. The storage circuit, when the distribution fails, stores a distribution hold list that includes a combination of: an identifier of another image forming apparatus where the distribution has failed, and an item name and value of a set value where the distribution has failed. The distribution hold list management circuit manages the stored distribution hold list.

An operating information storing system includes a master apparatus and multiple slave apparatuses. The master apparatus and each slave apparatus respectively include a first processor. The master apparatus includes a nonvolatile memory, the first processor that acquires operating information generated by each slave apparatus, stores the acquired operating information, and determines if at least one operating information indicates specific operating information, and a first transmitter. Each slave apparatus includes a volatile memory, a second processor to store generated operating information in the volatile memory sequentially, and a second transmitter that transfers the operating information stored in the volatile memory to the master apparatus. The second processor stores the specific operating information in the volatile memory until the second transmitter transfers the generated specific operating information to the master apparatus based on the request transferred by the first transmitter in the master apparatus if the specific operating information is generated.

An image forming apparatus capable of exchanging various types of information with at least one image forming apparatus includes a nonvolatile storage unit capable of higher-speed access processing than a hard disk drive of the image forming apparatus and capable of storing amount-of-use information regarding an amount of use of the image forming apparatus by each user, and a management unit configured to manage usage of the image forming apparatus by a user, by using the amount-of-use information stored in the storage unit. On a predetermined condition, the management unit shifts specific amount-of-use information to a shift destination device that is another image forming apparatus different from the image forming apparatus, the specific amount-of-use information being amount-of-use information about a specific user out of a plurality of pieces of amount-of-use information about each of a plurality of users stored in the storage unit.

A document processing system and method includes a first document processing device configured to send a job completion notification subscription, user account information, charge account information, and usage restriction information to a second document processing device, and in response receive job usage information from the second document processing device for each document processing operation completed by the second document processing device, such as printing, scanning, photocopying, and faxing. The first document processing device updates the user account, charge account, and usage restriction information based on the received job usage information, and sends updated user account, charge account, and usage restriction information to the second document processing device.

An information processing system includes an information processing apparatus that is capable of being remotely operated by a remote operation terminal via a network, an execution unit that executes a job in accordance with operation, a first operation receiving unit that receives operation of the remote operation terminal for the execution unit, a second operation receiving unit that receives operation for the execution unit, a determining unit that determines whether operation is received by the first operation receiving unit or the second operation receiving unit, a charging determining unit that determines whether the job executed by the execution unit is an object for charging in accordance with the result determined by the determining unit, and a storing unit that stores therein the result determined by the determining unit.
