Trusted evidence cameras and related methods and computer program products
Digital Cameras configured to verify authenticity of digital photos taken with the digital camera and related methods and computer program products are provided. GPS information associated with a photograph taken with the digital camera is obtained. A checksum of pixels that make up the photograph and the obtained GPS information is generated. The generated checksum is encrypted using a private key associated with the digital camera so as to allow verification that the photograph has not been modified.

GPS pre-acquisition for geotagging digital photos
A handheld electronic device, such as a GPS-enabled wireless communications device with an embedded camera, a GPS-enabled camera-phone or a GPS-enabled digital camera, determines whether ephemeris data needs to be obtained for geotagging digital photos taken with the device. By monitoring user activity with respect to the camera, such as activation of the camera, the device can begin pre-acquisition of a GPS position fix by obtaining needed ephemeris data before the photograph is actually taken. This GPS pre-acquisition improves the likelihood that a position fix (GPS lock) is achieved by the time the photo is taken (to enable immediate geotagging). Alternatively, the photo can be geotagged retroactively by appending the current location to the metadata tag associated with the digital photo. An optional acquisition status indicator can be displayed on a user interface of the device to indicate that a position fix is being obtained.

A data processing apparatus includes a first limit unit, an acquisition unit, a registration unit, and a second limit unit. If the user authentication has not been performed for the user, the acquisition unit acquires biological information of the user. The registration unit registers the acquired biological information and a use status of the service in association with each other in a database. The second limit unit limits the service to be provided, in accordance with the use status corresponding to the acquired biological information.

A controller in the apparatus is configured to determine whether a writing of data to a wireless tag was successful based on a notification from the wireless tag communication device and generate investigation support information if the writing was not successful and control the image forming device to form an investigation support image corresponding to the investigation support information if the writing was not successful.

A server controls a status of a document transmitted by facsimile transmission from a sender apparatus to a receiver apparatus. The server includes circuitry that provides, to a request source apparatus, the document in response to receiving an acquisition request specifying the document, transmitted from the request source apparatus being one of the receiver apparatus and a different apparatus from the receiver apparatus. The circuitry controls a status change, between an unread status and a read status, of the document specified by the acquisition request based on information on the request source apparatus and information on the receiver apparatus of the document.

Method for embedding searchable information, encryption, signing operation, transmission, storage and retrieval
A cell phone is disclosed for acquiring information to be transmitted to a receiving facility and for transmitting such thereto. A capture device captures information from an external source. A processor is provided for associating with the captured information a representation of the date and time of the capture of the information, such that the representation of the date and time information in association with the captured information forms augmented captured information. The processor also places the augmented captured information in association with subscriber information in a transmission of the augmented captured information to a receiving facility requiring such subscriber information. A transmitter transmits the transmission including the augmented captured information and the subscriber information to the receiving facility. An encryptor encrypts the augmented captured information with a symmetrical encryption algorithm to provide encrypted augmented captured information in the transmission with the subscriber information.
