Sound management in edgeless flexible display device

According to one embodiment, a method, computer system, and computer program product for operating a flexible device to maintain a threshold level of audio quality through various changes in the flexible device's bend profile is provided. The present invention may include identifying the bending profile of a flexible device comprising one or more audio devices; and responsive to identifying one or more of the audio devices as occluded audio devices based on the bending profile, operating the flexible device to change the position of one of the one or more occluded audio devices to raise an audio quality associated with the occluded audio device above the threshold level of desired audio quality.

Directed sound transmission systems and methods

A method for providing directed transmission of sound waves, through modulation on an ultrasonic carrier, may comprise connecting, at least one directed sound source to an audio system, emitting, via the at least one directed sound source, audio from the audio system, wherein the emitting comprises emitting medium frequency audio sound waves and higher frequency audio sound waves. The audio may be selected via a master control unit, which may be operatively coupled to a mobile application. In many embodiments, a first audio selection is configured to be heard only through a first directed sound source, and a second audio selection is configured to be heard only through a second directed sound source.

A loudspeaker system (50) has a front loudspeaker enclosure (10) having at least one front loudspeaker (20) and a rear loudspeaker enclosure (30) having at least one second loudspeaker (40). The front loudspeaker enclosure (10) is in the form of a horn-loaded enclosure. The rear loudspeaker enclosure (30) is in the form of a vented high-pass enclosure.

DISPLAY DEVICE

A sound image localization effect is enhanced to ensure a preferable viewing state in which a sense of unity between an image or video and sound is generated.

A display device includes: a display on which an image is displayed on a display surface; a rear cover arranged on a back surface side of the display; and an upper speaker and a lower speaker arranged between the display and the rear cover and located so as to be separated vertically from each other, in which an upper slit functioning as a passage hole for sound output from the upper speaker is located above the display, a lower slit functioning as a passage hole for sound output from the lower speaker is located below the display, and a vertical width of the lower slit is larger than a vertical width of the upper slit.

SELF-CALIBRATING MICROPHONE AND LOUDSPEAKER ARRAYS FOR WEARABLE AUDIO DEVICES

A method for self-calibrating a sound pickup process that uses a microphone array in a wearable device that also includes a loudspeaker, where the microphone array being in a physical arrangement with respect to the loudspeaker. The method obtains, for each of several microphones of the microphone array, one or more transfer functions that each represent a response of the microphone to sound from a position in an acoustic space. The method determines whether a physical arrangement of the microphone array with respect to the loudspeaker has changed and adjusts the transfer function, for at least one of the microphones of the several microphones, in response to determining that the current physical arrangement of the microphone array with respect to the loudspeaker has changed.

Systems and methods for positioning a user of a hands-free intercommunication system

A hands-free intercom may include a user-tracking sensor, a directional microphone, a directional sound emitter, a display device, and/or a communication interface. The user-tracking sensor may determine a location of a user so the directional microphone can measure vocal emissions by the user and the directional sound emitter can deliver audio to the user. The hands-free intercom may induce the user to move to a desired location and/or to stay within a connectivity area. The hands-free intercom may also or instead induce the user to face in a desired orientation. The directional sound emitter and/or the display device may induce the user by explicitly indicating the desired location, by adjusting an apparent source of the audio or video, by changing quality of delivered audio or video based on user position, by producing irritating audio or video, and/or the like.

PANEL VIBRATION TYPE SOUND GENERATING DISPLAY DEVICE

The present disclosure relates to a display device for generating sound by directly vibrating a display panel thereof, which includes a display panel connected to a surface of the display panel and configured to display an image; and a sound generating actuator, which is fixed to a support structure of the display panel and attached to the display panel to directly vibrate the display panel. In the display device, the progressing direction of the sound coincides with the image output direction in the display device. Therefore, sound localization or sound output characteristics of the display device or set apparatus can be improved, and a separate speaker is not required, the mechanism of the set apparatus can be easily designed, and a thickness thereof can be easily reduced.
