A biometric authentication system and method are provided. Desired information is stored within a management system. Access to information stored within the management system is limited based upon an identity system linked to the management system verifying user identity and the scanning of an access code generated by the identity system. User identity is verified by storing biometric data acquired from a user, acquiring a biometric sample from a user, and comparing the biometric data to establish a match therebetween. A computing device having certain features, such as a touch ID sensor and camera, may be utilized to acquire biometric samples and scan the generated access code. Upon the identity system verifying a requesting user's identity and determining the access code has been properly scanned, the management system may output certain information stored therein to the requesting user.

Device security utilizing continually changing QR codes

A method provides device access security via use of periodically changing Quick Response (QR) codes. The method includes: generating (706) a first authentication QR code and assigning (708) the generated QR code as the current authentication mechanism for accessing the device. Contemporaneously with the generation of the QR code, at least one QR code validity parameter is established (710) to define when access to the device can be provided to a second device that provides the correct authentication QR code along with the access request. The method includes, in response to a pre-defined trigger (712) of the QR code validity parameter: generating (704) a new authentication QR code, different from a previously generated authentication QR code; assigning (708) the new authentication QR code as the current authentication mechanism for accessing the device; and enabling access to the first device to only second devices that provide the current authentication QR code.

Authentication via camera

Systems and methods for authentication via camera are provided. In example embodiments, an authentication server transmits, to a mobile device, an identity verification image. The authentication server receives, from a computing device, a scanned image, wherein the computing device is different from the mobile device. The authentication server determines whether the scanned image includes data from the identity verification image. The authentication server transits, to a web server accessed by the computing device, an indication that a user's identity has been verified upon determining that the scanned image includes the data from the identity verification image.

An information processing system includes a terminal device connected to a first network; and an information processing device connected to a second network that is different from the first network. The terminal device includes an information retrieval unit for retrieving, from an electronic device, identification information of the information processing device and first authentication information; an access data retrieval unit for retrieving access data from the information processing device; and a processing request unit for transmitting a request for processing to the electronic device. The information processing device includes an information providing unit for providing, to the electronic device, the identification information of the information processing device and the first authentication information; an access data providing unit for providing, to the terminal device, the access data; and a processing request transmission determining unit for transmitting the request for processing from the terminal device to the electronic device.

Machine-to-machine visual code generation and recognition method and system for device communications
09794783 · 2017-10-17 ·

Various embodiments of a machine-to-machine visual code generation and recognition method and a corresponding system are disclosed. In one embodiment, a first machine gathers real-time hardware setting information of the first machine, and subsequently generates a first QR code that embeds hardware setting information of the first machine. The first QR code is displayed to a display panel connected to the first machine, and a second machine with a camera captures the first QR code, and deciphers the first QR code to determine communication compatibility between the first machine and the second machine. Then, the second machine formulates a response that incorporates its own real-time hardware setting information, and generates a second QR code that embeds the second machine's response to the first machine. Subsequently, the first machine scans the second QR code from the second machine's display panel, and registers the second machine's hardware setting information.

MANAGING ACCESS TO PERIPHERAL DEVICES

An example processor-implemented method for accessing peripheral devices with the present disclosure includes establishing connection between a portable computing device and a dock, determining a pairing status between the portable computing device and the dock, and managing access to at least one peripheral device by the portable computing device based on the pairing status. The dock is associated with the at least one peripheral device.

WORKSTATION AND CLIENT DEVICE PAIRING

To assist a professional with performing professional services, a client device is paired to a workstation via a server. The workstation creates a code indicative of the workstation and displays the code on a display of the workstation such that the client device can capture the code. The server is communicatively coupled with the workstation and the client device. The server is configured to receive a set of credentials from the client device, including information indicative of the code that was displayed on the workstation. The server analyzes the set of credentials to identify said workstation and pairs the client device with the workstation based upon said analysis of the code. The pairing allows the client device and the workstation to share information to assist the professional with performing professional services.

Standalone wearable device configuration and interface

Embodiments described herein provide for a satellite device that can be associated with a user account of a minor aged (e.g., child or adolescent) user that does not have a smartphone that can be used as a companion device to the satellite device. The satellite device can be configured to be used as a primary device, without reliance upon a paired smartphone. Certain information can be synchronized with the satellite device via the association with the family account. During initial configuration, a set of cryptographic keys can be generated to associate the account of the satellite device with the set of accounts in the family. The satellite device can then access calendars, media, or other data that is shared with user accounts within a family of user accounts.
