Network operating system resource coordination

Network device coordination schemes allocate resources, configure transmission policies, and assign users to utilize resources. A set of transmission policies is generated to services users while each user maintains a throughput threshold. The set of transmission policies can be altered to alter a network energy efficiency. The set of transmission polices can be altered based on energy consumption, data throughput, channel characteristics, measured interference, and the like.

A controller includes a processor and a memory communicatively connected to the processor wherein the processor is configured to determine a configuration for a configurable auxiliary communication module of an energy-limited wireless node, and propagate, toward the energy-limited wireless node, an indication of the configuration for the configurable auxiliary communication module of the energy-limited wireless node.

Method and apparatus for controlling channel occupancy based on energy-level-coded quality of service indicia

An improved method for controlling how long a device will occupy a wireless channel, based on consideration of QoS class of communication on the channel. With respect to a communication that the device detects on the channel, the device could determine QoS class by detecting a sequence of energy levels in association with the detected communication, the sequence of energy levels indicating the QoS class. The disclosed method could be applied by a cellular base station to control how long the base station will provide cellular service on the channel, where the channel is also used for other communications such as WiFi communications for instance.

The present invention relates to a wireless communication system, and, more particularly, a method and device for implementing power saving in a wireless LAN system are disclosed. A method of implementing power saving by a station (STA) in a wireless LAN system according to an embodiment of the present invention may include the steps of: receiving a plurality of frames from an access point (AP) by means of the station STA that is changed from a sleep state to an awake state; determining whether each of the plurality of frames has an error; and transmitting a response frame representing the presence and absence of the error to the AP. Even if each of the plurality of frames includes information instructing the AP to stop transmitting to the station to the station STA, it is possible to maintain the awake state when at least one of the plurality of frames has an error.

A Wi-Fi device in a WLAN network includes a processor and a transceiver adapted to be coupled to an antenna, and a power saving medium access in congested network environments algorithm that is activated after a Wi-Fi connection is established with its access point (AP). A Traffic Indication Map (TIM) bitmap in a TIM information element received in a beacon frame from the AP is analyzed to determine whether more than a predetermined number of bits (X) are set to indicate the AP has ≥1 buffered frame for ones of the Wi-Fi devices to conclude whether the WLAN is in a congested environment. When in a congested environment, transmissions responsive to the beacon are postponed by entering a sleep mode for a random period of time (P). After P expires, the sleep mode is exited and a poll frame is transmitted to the AP to try to gain medium access.
