Method, devices and system for a hybrid bearer service
A method for data exchange between a user equipment and a network node over a bearer service in a communication system. A virtual access network identifier identifies a connectionless bearer service on which a network service is mapped. A logical channel identifier identifies a connection oriented bearer service on which the network service is mapped. The data is exchanged between the user equipment and the network node over the connection oriented bearer service or over the connectionless bearer service depending on the amount of exchanged data and/or the data bit rate and/or the expiration of a timer.
BIT RATE SCHEDULING FOR A USER EQUIPMENT
The present disclosure provides systems and methods for scheduling transmissions to and/or transmissions from user equipment. The user equipment communicates with a network via a first radio processing function (RPF) and a second RPF. The method includes determining a first aggregate bit rate for the UE. The method provides for sending to the first RPF first aggregate bit rate information (ABRI) for the UE. The first ABRI: 1) indicates that the first aggregate bit rate satisfies a bit threshold condition, 2) indicates that the first aggregate bit rate does not satisfy the condition, or 3) identifies the determined first aggregate bit rate for the UE.
Attention (AT) interface for radio access network bitrate recommendations
Various embodiments may provide streaming service downlink assistance and/or uplink assistance mechanisms for a wireless device using attention (AT) commands exchanged between a modem processor of the wireless device and another processor of the wireless device. Various embodiments may include an AT command that is a bitrate recommendation action command including an indication of a stream identifier, an indication of a requested bitrate, and an indication of a direction. Various embodiments may include an AT response that is a bitrate recommendation response, the bitrate recommendation response including an indication of a stream identifier, an indication of a bitrate recommendation, and an indication of a direction.
Device-Assisted Services for Protecting Network Capacity
Device Assisted Services (DAS) for protecting network capacity is provided. In some embodiments, DAS for protecting network capacity includes monitoring a network service usage activity of the communications device in network communication; classifying the network service usage activity for differential network access control for protecting network capacity; and associating the network service usage activity with a network service usage control policy based on a classification of the network service usage activity to facilitate differential network access control for protecting network capacity.
Device Group Partitions and Settlement Platform
Device group partitions and a settlement platform are provided. In some embodiments, device group partitions (e.g., partitions of devices based on associated device groups) are provided. In some embodiments, a settlement platform service is provided. In some embodiments, a settlement platform service is provided for partitioned devices. In some embodiments, collecting device generated service usage information for one or more devices in wireless communication on a wireless network; and aggregating the device generated service usage information for a settlement platform for the one or more devices in wireless communication on the wireless network is provided. In some embodiments, a settlement platform implements a service billing allocation and/or a service/transactional revenue share among one or more partners. In some embodiments, service usage information includes micro-CDRs, which are used for CDR mediation or reconciliation that provides for service usage accounting on any device activity that is desired. In some embodiments, each device activity that is desired to be associated with a billing event is assigned a micro-CDR transaction code, and a service processor of the device is programmed to account for that activity associated with that transaction code. In some embodiments, a service processor executing on a wireless communications device periodically reports (e.g., during each heartbeat or based on any other periodic, push, and/or pull communication technique(s)) micro-CDR usage measures to, for example, a service controller or some other network element for CDR mediation or reconciliation.
Adaptive causal network coding with feedback
Techniques are disclosed for an adaptive and causal random linear network coding (AC-RLNC) with forward error correction (FEC) for a communication channel with delayed feedback. An example methodology implementing the techniques includes transmitting one or more coded packets in a communication channel, determining a channel behavior of the channel, and adaptively adjusting a transmission of a subsequent coded packet in the first channel based on the determined channel behavior. The communication channel may be a point-to-point communication channel between a sender and a receiver. The channel behavior may be determined based on feedback acknowledgements provided by the receiver. The subsequent coded packet may be a random linear combination of one or more information packets.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR AGGREGATE MAXIMUM BIT RATE (AMBR) MANAGEMENT
Systems and methods of scheduling bit rates for first-class traffic for a first and second class session for a device; honoring for the device each first class session with the bit rate equal to a session aggregate maximum bit rate (AMBR) by a scheduler by assigning a threshold for an aggregate bit rate for traffic for each first-class session; if a total of the aggregate bit rate of traffic for each first class session is below the threshold assigned, then assigning each first class session the session AMBR for first-class session traffic for the device; if the total of the aggregate bit rate of traffic for each first class session is above the threshold assigned, then proportionality scheduling packets of the traffic for the first class session of the device to limit the aggregate rate of the first-class traffic below the threshold.
Method and computing device for carrying out data integrity protection
A method for carrying out data integrity protection on a communication network. According to an implementation, a wireless communication device indicates, to a wireless network, the maximum data rate up to which integrity protection is supported for user plane data. A network node (e.g., a node of the core network, such as an SMF) receives this information and determines whether or not to enable integrity protection for user plane data based on the information (possibly in conjunction with other information such as the minimum data rate to be supported, etc.). The network node then communicates the decision to enable or disable integrity protection to a RAN node (e.g., a wireless base station).
TECHNIQUES FOR DISPLAYING A RADIO ACCESS TECHNOLOGY STATUS INDICATION BASED ON BANDWIDTH METRICS
Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that the UE is connected to a wireless network on a first carrier frequency in a first frequency range that is associated with a lower data rate than a second carrier frequency in a second frequency range. In some aspects, the first frequency range may be associated with a first version of a radio access technology (RAT) and the second frequency range may be associated with a second version of the RAT. The UE may determine a bandwidth metric associated with the first carrier frequency in the first frequency range. The UE may display a first visual indicator associated with the first version of the RAT or a second visual indicator associated with the second version of the RAT based on the bandwidth metric. Numerous other aspects are described.
