Systems and methods for selective provisioning of a charging function in a wireless network
A system described herein may provide for the selection of a charging function (“CHF”) associated with a particular user equipment (“UE”). A particular CHF may be selected, from a group of candidate CHFs, based on CHF selection criteria respectively associated with the candidate CHFs and attribute information associated with the UE. The attribute information may describe attributes of the UE, profile information associated with the UE, and/or attributes of traffic and/or bearers associated with the UE.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DYNAMIC DATA RATE ADJUSTMENT FOR A WIRELESS SLICE
An approach to provide dynamic adjustment in order to meet the limitation of data rate per network slice in the uplink and downlink wireless connections in a wireless network. The approach uses a network slice quota (NSQ) management function, which keeps track of aggregated maximum bit rates (AMBR) for a slice. Upon reaching a limit, the NSQ functionality dynamically adjusts the user equipment (UE) data rates, reduces the quality of service (QoS), and/or rejects any protocol data unit (PDU) request. Several techniques are described that meet these objectives. In one technique, when the limit is reached, the session AMBR per subscription level is adjusted in proportionate ratio of the maximum bit rate per subscription level per UE. In another technique, when the limit is reached, there is a proportionate equivalent increment and decrement of session AMBR based on usage patterns of the subscription levels. In a further technique, when the limit is reached, there is a proportionate equivalent increment and decrement of slice resources based on usage patterns. In yet another technique, a quota update is attempted using the Unified Data Repository (UDR).
User-plane enhancements supporting in-bearer sub-flow QoS differentiation
Embodiments concern managing traffic in a radio device. While classifying user-plane packets from multiple applications according to quality of service requirements, a specific user-plane packet is classified as/determined to be a predetermined special-type packet (e.g., the special-type packets establish a new TCP/IP connection for a newly activated application). Based on that, that specific user-plane packet is mapped to a pre-defined radio bearer associated with a preconfigured priority, for example a highest priority among all bearers to which any of these user-plane packets from the multiple applications are mapped. Then all the mapped user-plane packets are scheduled for transmission according to their respective priorities. For example, the specific user-plane packet could be a SDU having a SYN, SYN-ACK or ACK, and the network convergence sub-layer (NCS) constructs a L2 NCS PDU using a designated format with the SDU in the payload and context information in the header.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR SIGNALING RAN-ASSISTED CODEC ADAPTATION CAPABILITIES IN IMS MULTIMEDIA TELEPHONY SESSIONS
Provided herein are apparatus and method for signal RAN-assisted codec adaptation capabilities via IMS. An apparatus for a UE includes a RF interface to receive an SDP offer message from the remote UE, the SDP offer message including a first dedicated SDP attribute parameter to indicate support of ANBR capability of the remote UE; and processor circuitry. The processor circuitry is to decode the SDP offer message to determine the support of ANBR capability of the remote UE; encode an SDP answer message in response to the SDP offer message, the SDP answer message including a second dedicated SDP attribute parameter to indicate support of ANBR capability of the UE; and cause transmission of the SDP answer message to the remote UE. Other embodiments may also be disclosed and claimed.
Attention (AT) Interface For Radio Access Network Bitrate Recommendations
Various embodiments may provide streaming service downlink assistance and/or uplink assistance mechanisms for a wireless device using attention (AT) commands exchanged between a modem processor of the wireless device and another processor of the wireless device. Various embodiments may include an AT command that is a bitrate recommendation action command including an indication of a stream identifier, an indication of a requested bitrate, and an indication of a direction. Various embodiments may include an AT response that is a bitrate recommendation response, the bitrate recommendation response including an indication of a stream identifier, an indication of a bitrate recommendation, and an indication of a direction.
Packet data convergence protocol packet duplication activation by a base station central unit
A base station distributed unit receives, from a base station central unit, at least one information element indicating activation of a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) packet duplication of at least one bearer of a wireless device. The base station distributed unit transmits, by and based on the activation: PDCP packets of the at least one bearer; and duplicated PDCP packets of the at least one bearer.
End-to-end rate adaptation using ran assisted rate adaptation
Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for end-to-end rate adaptation using radio access network (RAN) assisted rate adaptation. Particularly, when a user equipment (UE) risks operating at rates greater than the guaranteed bit rates (GBR), the UE may rely on rate adaptation mechanisms to indicate when it has exceeded the supported bandwidth such that the UE may reduce its rate accordingly. Specifically, in some examples, a network device (e.g., call session control function (CSCF) and/or policy and charging rules function (PCRF)) may configure endpoints in an end-to-end communication to operate at rates that exceed GBR based on determining that all endpoints support RAN assisted rate adaptation capability. In other examples, the network device may configure maximum bit rates (MBR) that exceed GBR for only the endpoint that supports RAN assisted rate adaptation capability.
METHOD, APPARATUS, AND SYSTEM FOR REPORTING DATA USAGE
Embodiments of this application provide a method, an apparatus, and a system for reporting data usage, so that for a PDU session into which a UL CL user plane network element or a BP user plane network element is inserted, statistics can be accurately collected on data usage. The method includes: An aggregate user plane network element determines discarded data usage of the aggregate user plane network element, and sends the discarded data usage to a session management network element. The first session management network element receives the discarded data usage, and receives transport data usage of one or a plurality of anchor user plane network elements, which are anchor user plane network elements connected to the aggregate user plane network element. The first session management network element determines actual data usage of a terminal device based on the discarded data usage and the transport data usage.
COMMUNICATION METHOD AND NETWORK DEVICE
The present disclosure relates to communication methods and network devices. In one example method, a first network device receives a first message sent by a second network device, where the first message is used to notify whether the first network device configures a default data radio bearer (DRB), and the first network device and the second network device are network devices that provide a multi-connectivity service for a same terminal device. The first network device determines, based on the first message, whether to configure the default DRB.
Data transmission buffer discarding method and apparatus
This disclosure provides a data transmission method and apparatus. The method includes: determining a data flow mapped onto a data radio bearer (DRB); and controlling a transmission rate of the data flow based on the transmission rate of the data flow and a first rate threshold of the data flow. This disclosure provides the data transmission method and apparatus, to control the transmission rate of the data flow mapped onto the DRB.
