Extended service set transitions in wireless networks
A mobile device may transition between Extended Service Set (ESS) networks seamlessly, such that a consumer never loses the network connection despite the transition. The communication for enabling a transition may be prior to association with that network. The seamless transition may be enabled through the creation and utilization of a central key holder authority that advertises its identity to mobile devices in a pre-associated state. The mobile device can use the key discovery communication along with a key generation method to authenticate and/or associate with a network and transition from one ESS to another. There may be a common root key across ESSs. At each new access point (AP) that the mobile device encounters, ESS and key holder identities may be discovered through discovery communications.
Method and device for providing a mobile device with service continuity over multiple access networks
A device performs registering with a first access network to generate a first registration, detecting a triggering event, and registering with a second access network to generate a second registration while maintaining the first registration with the first access network. Other embodiments are disclosed.
Reporting intra-WLAN mobility to 3GPP
According to some embodiments, a method in a wireless device operable in a first wireless communication network and a second wireless communication network comprises receiving, from the first wireless communication network, an identification of network nodes of the second wireless communication network. The network nodes of the second wireless communication network are operable to process traffic for the wireless device. The method further comprises receiving an instruction from the second wireless communication network to move traffic from a first network node of the second wireless communication network to a second network node of the second wireless communication network. The first network node is one of the identified one or more network nodes of the second wireless communication network. The method also comprises determining that an identification of the second network node is not included in the received identification of one or more network nodes of the second wireless communication network.
Radio base station and radio terminal
A radio base station according to an embodiment constitutes a mobile communication network. The radio base station comprises: a controller configured to measure a stay time for which a radio terminal has stayed on a wireless LAN. The stay time is a period from when a first process through which the radio terminal switches a waiting destination or a connection destination from the mobile communication network to the wireless LAN is performed to when a second process through which the radio terminal switches the waiting destination or the connection destination from the wireless LAN to the mobile communication network is performed.
Method for processing data when loss of access occurs in a wireless communication system, and device therefor
Disclosed is a method for processing data, wherein, according to the occurrence of a loss of access of a terminal operating by SCM or TSCM, a first network entity operating in a first network receives a request to transmit data of second network, and receives the data of the second network from a third network entity, and buffers the data until a routing rule is updated.
DATA NETWORK ACCESS SELECTION, MIGRATION AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Described are various embodiments of a data network subscriber access, migration and quality management system and method. Some embodiments provide a system and method for maintaining a call between a calling device and a recipient device as the calling device migrates between distinct data networks. Other embodiments provide a system for modulating available data communication bandwidth to a plurality of fixed data network addresses.
METHOD FOR PRE-EMPTING WIRELESS RESOURCE, WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM AND RADIO ACCESS NODE
A method for pre-empting a wireless resource is provided in the invention. The method is applied to a communication system. The method includes the steps of transmitting, using the plurality of UE in a first network, measurement reports of a plurality of user equipment (UE) to a radio access node wherein the first network is provided by the radio access node; according to the priority level of the UE bearer corresponding to each UE, selecting a plurality of candidate UE bearers from all of the UE bearers; determining whether the UE corresponding to each of the candidate UE bearers can connect to other heterogeneous networks; and selecting one of the candidate UE bearers corresponding to the UE which can connect to other heterogeneous networks to perform the pre-emption.
Mobility and/or access selection between cells
There is provided a method, performed by a network node, for steering of access between cells. The method comprises receiving, from user equipment, a report indicating failure to access a cell, also referred to as a rejecting cell, due to internal reasons of another network node, also referred to as a rejecting network node, serving the rejecting cell. The method also comprises steering the access of the user equipment between cells by modifying at least one offloading parameter and/or threshold based on the report indicating failure to access the rejecting cell due to internal reasons of the rejecting network node serving the rejecting cell. With this new type of report the network can modify offloading parameter(s) and/or threshold(s) in a more suitable way since the network has more information available.
System and method for seamless mobility in a network environment
In one example, an apparatus is provided that includes a processor configured to receive, in a first wireless network, an identifier of a base station in a second wireless network, and to determine an identity of a first device in the second wireless network. The apparatus is configured to transmit the identifier of the base station to the second wireless network.
METHOD AND MOBILE TRANSCEIVER FOR ASSET TRACKING
A method and mobile transceiver for asset tracking is provided. In one aspect, a method of operating a mobile transceiver comprising a processor, a memory, a satellite receiver, and at least one wireless transceiver is provided. The method comprises activating a wireless transceiver associated with a last used wireless service from a low power mode, searching for a wireless signal for the last used wireless service, and selecting an alternate wireless service when the last used wireless service is not available. Different approaches for selecting the alternate wireless service are provided.
