A first micro-base station may be configured initiate communications with a plurality of mobile devices, where each mobile device is associated with an access ID stored in the first micro-base station. The access ID may be a MAC ID. The first micro-base station may determine that a handover trigger has occurred. The first micro-base station may handover communications with at least one of the mobile devices to a second micro-base station by sending a list of access IDs to the second micro-base station. The access IDs sent by the first micro-base station may be a subset of the access IDs of mobile devices communicating with the first micro-base station. The second micro-base station receiving the list may then takeover communications with the at least one mobile device using the access IDs in the list. The handover may be transparent to the mobile devices that are handed over.

A technique for data communication between an in-vehicle device and an information processor outside a vehicle includes detecting that the vehicle is be parked, determining whether the data communication using short-range communication is available at a parked point, receiving a communication stat request for start of the data communication from the in-vehicle device or the information processor, stopping a short-range communication unit based on detection of the vehicle being parked, and restarting the short-range communication unit based on receiving the communication start request in a state where the vehicle is parked and the data communication using short-range communication is available.

Mobile device information sharing

Methods and systems for selecting access networks are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes receiving, from a first plurality of mobile terminals, a corresponding plurality of motion information for a corresponding plurality of connection points for one or more corresponding wireless access networks, storing the plurality of motion information in a data repository, receiving from a second plurality of mobile terminals non-overlapping with the first plurality of mobile terminals, requests for different subsets of the plurality of motion information, reading the requested motion information from the data repository in response to the requests, and transmitting the requested motion information to the requesting mobile terminals.

Disclosed are a system and method of regulating mobile device communications while operating a motor vehicle. One example method may include determining a speed event indicating that a speed of the motor vehicle has performed at least one of exceeded a first threshold above which mobile device usage restriction policies are invoked and fallen below a second threshold allowing the mobile device restriction policies to be removed. The first threshold may be equal to or greater than the second threshold. As a result of obtaining the speed event, the method may also provide transmitting the speed event to a remote edge gateway server located remotely from the motor vehicle, which stores the speed event for reference purposes when determining a policy for routing a particular mobile device call, text message and/or mobile data session.

Techniques for mobility mode selection in uplink-based and downlink-based mobility

Various aspects described herein relate to techniques for mobility mode selection in uplink-based and downlink-based mobility in wireless communications systems. In an aspect, a method for wireless communications may include determining that a user equipment (UE) is operating in a first mobility mode, determining whether the UE satisfies at least one condition associated with mobility of the UE for mobility mode selection, and selecting a second mobility mode based on a determination that the UE satisfies the at least one condition, wherein each of the first mobility mode and the second mobility mode is an uplink mobility mode or a downlink mobility mode. The techniques described herein may apply to different communications technologies, including the 5th Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) communications technology.

Mobile data scheduling based on signal strength and user availability

In an approach to determining and scheduling future data transfers, one or more computer processors determine one or more future data transfers. The one or more computer processors identify an intended travel path of a user over a time interval. The one or more computer processors predict a network signal strength of a user device for the intended travel path over the time interval. The one or more computer processors schedule the one or more future data transfers during the time interval based on the predicted network signal strength.
