HANDLING OF COMMUNICATION INTERRUPTION

A method is disclosed for a radio access network control node operating in a communication network having an associated user device, wherein the user device has an ongoing application service session with an application server via the communication network.

The method includes detecting that a trigger condition is met for the user device, the trigger condition indicating an upcoming communication interruption in relation to the application service session.

The method also includes causing implementation of a temporary transmission rate adjustment of the application service session, wherein the temporary transmission rate adjustment provides a radio access channel margin accommodating the upcoming communication interruption.

In some embodiments, causing implementation of the temporary transmission rate adjustment includes transmitting an adjustment command to the user device and/or the application server.

Corresponding methods for a user device and an application server are also disclosed.

Dual Connectivity Mobile Communication System

An apparatus, method and computer program is described including sending an addition request from a master node of a dual connectivity mobile communication system to a target secondary node of the dual connectivity mobile communication system, wherein each addition request includes information relating to a maximum number of primary secondary cells that can be prepared for primary secondary cell change by said target secondary node; and receiving a response to the addition request from the target secondary node indicating how many primary secondary cells have been prepared by said target secondary node in response to said addition request.

A source donor supports inter-donor migration of an integrated access backhaul (IAB) node from the source donor to a target donor, where the source donor and the target donor corresponding to respective nodes of a radio access network (RAN), and when a user equipment (UE) is in communication with the RAN via the IAB-node. The source donor transmits, to the target donor, a handover request message related to the IAB-node; receives, from the target donor, a handover request acknowledge message including an IAB-node configuration related to the inter-donor migration of the IAB-node; provides the IAB-node configuration to the IAB-node; and transmits downlink data for the UE to the target donor, for forwarding to the UE via the IAB-node.

Link Switch In A Wireless Communication System

A wireless communication device is configured for use in a wireless communication system. The device in this regard is configured to receive a command that commands the device to perform a link switch from a source link to a target link responsive to fulfillment of a condition. The command may indicate a target link configuration relative to a source link configuration. The device is also configured to store information from which the target link configuration indicated by the command is determinable irrespective of any change to the source link configuration occurring after receipt of the command. In some embodiments, the device is configured to, responsive to fulfillment of the condition, perform a link switch from the source link to the target link using the target link configuration as determined from the stored information.

CONDITIONAL HANDOVER MANAGEMENT

A user device (UE) receives, from a source base station while the user device is operating in a source cell of the source base station, a conditional handover configuration providing information for user device operation within a candidate target cell of a candidate base station, and a corresponding condition for handing over to the candidate target cell of the candidate base station (1202). In some implementations, prior to determining that the condition is satisfied, the UE receives, from the source base station, a handover command message for immediate handover to a target base station (1204), and after receiving the handover command message, releases the conditional handover configuration (1206) and performs an immediate handover to the target base station (1208).

In wireless communication, a device may change, add, or handover between providers (e.g. nodes) of network access. This may include a conditional cell addition/change procedure initiated by a master node. In addition, successive cell addition/changes can also be performed. The conditional procedures and/or successive procedures can reduce handover interruption time and improve reliability.
