Method for accessing a service unavailable through a network cell
In an access device associated with a first network cell, a method for enabling user equipment (UE) to obtain a service unavailable through the first network cell includes receiving a request for the UE to access the service, and identifying, in a message to the UE, a plurality of second network cells providing the service.
Method and apparatus for facilitating interworking of cellular radio access networks and wireless local area networks
A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided to facilitate interworking a plurality of cellular radio access networks and wireless local area networks (WLANs). In the context of a method, a set of information is maintained for a plurality of different cellular radio access networks that defines a relative priority of selection among the cellular radio access networks. The method also includes maintaining wireless access selection information defining a relative priority of selection among one or more WLANs relative to the cellular radio access networks. The method also permits the relative priority of the WLANs to be modified without modification of the set of information. For example, the relative priority the WLANs may be modified in a manner specific to the user equipment or specific to a cell. The method may also include causing notification to be provided to user equipment of the set of information and the wireless access selection information.
Codebook for full-dimension multiple input multiple output communications
Various embodiments include an apparatus to be employed by an enhanced Node B (eNB), the apparatus comprising communication circuitry to receive, from a user equipment (UE), feedback information and control circuitry, coupled with the communication circuitry, to identify a codeword from a three-dimensional codebook based on the feedback information received from the UE, wherein the communication circuitry is further to precede data to be transmitted to the UE based on the codeword. An apparatus to be employed by a UE and additional methods are described.
INTERFERENCE MEASUREMENT IN WIRELESS NETWORKS
Embodiments contemplate methods, systems, and apparatuses for interference measurement in a wireless communication network, including wireless communication networks the employ MIMO in uplink and/or downlink communication. Embodiments contemplate identifying one or more interference measurement resource elements that may be received from one or more transmission points. Embodiments also contemplate performing interference measurement estimation based at least in part on the identified one or more interference measurement resource elements. Channel state information (CSI) perhaps in the form of reports may be generated based at least in part on the one or more interference measurement estimation. Embodiments also contemplate that the CSI report may be transmitted to one or more nodes. In some embodiments, the one or more interference measurement resource elements may be received as part of a set of resource elements.
Communication of vehicle-to-everything support of a cell between base stations
A first base station receives, from a second base station, a message comprising at least one parameter of a first cell of the second base station. The at least one parameter indicates that the first cell supports at least one vehicle-to-everything (V2X) service. A handover decision for a wireless device is made. The first base station sends, to the second base station, a handover request for the wireless device based on the handover decision and the message.
System and method for allocating resource blocks
A system and method for allocating network resources are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the system and method are configured to perform: determining a resource indication value based on at least a first parameter and a second parameter, the resource indication value indicative of a number of resource blocks to be allocated to a communication node, wherein a number of possible different values of the resource indication value is limited by a predefined relationship between the first parameter and the second parameter; and transmitting the resource indication value to the communication node.
Method and apparatus for supporting supplementary uplink frequencies in next generation mobile communication system
The present disclosure relates to a communication scheme and system for converging a 5.sup.th generation (5G) communication system for supporting a data rate higher than that of a 4.sup.th generation (4G) system with an internet of things (IoT) technology. The present disclosure is applicable to intelligent services (e.g., smart home, smart building, smart city, smart car, connected car, health care, digital education, retail, and security and safety-related services) based on the 5G communication technology and the IoT-related technology. The present disclosure provides a method for preventing a legacy terminal from camping on an enhanced LTE (eLTE) base station that is connected to only a next generation (NG) core by combining a legacy information element (IE) and a new IE carried in system information broadcast by the base station in a next generation mobile communication system.
Secondary authorization at PDU session establishment for home routed roaming
Exemplary embodiments include a method, performed by a session management function (V-SMF) of a visited public land mobile network (VPLMN), for establishing a user-requested PDU session to be routed through the user's home PLMN (HPLMN). Such embodiments include receiving, from an access management function (AMF) in the HPLMN, a first request to establish a home-routed PDU session, wherein the first request identifies an SMF (H-SMF) in the HPLMN. Such embodiments also include sending, to the H-SMF, a second request to create the home-routed PDU session. The second request can include an identifier of a resource in the V-SMF associated with the PDU session; and one or more indicators of whether the V-SMF supports respective one or more features related to receiving, from the H-SMF, an identifier of a resource in the H-SMF that is associated with the PDU session. Embodiments also include complementary methods performed by the H-SMF.
Out-of-band monitoring and provisioning
A method is disclosed for out-of-band data communication with a base station in a wireless network, the method comprising: determining, at a base station in a cellular access network, the base station configured to use a coordination server and to a first core network for providing network access to user equipments (UEs), an occurrence of an event regarding a communication problem related to the base station; sending an out-of-band message, via an embedded UE module coupled to the base station attached to a second core network, to the coordination server, based on the occurrence of the event at the base station; updating, at the coordination server, a stored status for the base station, thereby enabling a status of the base station to be updated at the coordination server via an out-of-band message.
