Disclosed is a cooking appliance with an improved structure to increase visibility to get a better look at the inside of a cooking room during cooking while blocking electromagnetic waves generated in the cooking room from leaking out. The cooking appliance includes a main body configured to have having a cooking room and a door arranged on the front of the main body to open or and close the cooking room. The door includes a door frame configured to have an opening formed to see into the cooking room and a conductive border portion around the opening; a shielding member arranged to cover the opening and having a conductive blocking layer configured to block electromagnetic waves; and a fixing member arranged to combine the door frame and the shielding member.

Double-Cavity Microwave Oven

A double-cavity microwave oven is disclosed that includes a first and a second cooking cavity, a moveable barrier disposed between the first and the second cavity, a first and a second magnetron, and a first and a second waveguide corresponding to the first and the second magnetron, respectively. The first cavity is electromagnetically isolated from the second cavity, and, as the barrier moves, the size of the first cavity relative to the second cavity changes. As the barrier is in a first position, the first waveguide directs microwaves from the first magnetron to the first cavity and the second waveguide directs microwaves from the second magnetron to the second cavity. As the barrier is in a second position, the first and the second waveguide direct microwaves from the first and the second magnetron to the first cavity. Various embodiments are also disclosed including additional features.

The invention provides a door opening mechanism for a domestic appliance, for example a microwave door. The domestic appliance includes a housing, a front door, and a resilient member for urging the door open. The mechanism is adapted to be located within the housing and includes a retention mechanism which is engagable with the door and is movable between a first configuration where there door is retained in a closed position and a second configuration where the door is in a non-retained, open, position. The door also includes a cam with a plurality of cam surfaces. The door includes a door key with an inclined portion engagable with an edge of a sloping section of a hollow slot in the door molding, arranged such that a user is able to manually over-ride the opening mechanism and open the door by means of pulling.

COOKING APPLIANCE, DOOR FOR COOKING APPLIANCE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING DOOR OF COOKING APPLIANCE

A cooking appliance having an improved structure capable of improving visibility to enable a user to clearly look at the inside of the cooking chamber during cooking includes a main body having the cooking chamber and a door disposed at the main chamber to open or close the cooking chamber, the door including a shielding member woven with conductive wires and a fixing member to electrically connect the shielding member with a door frame of the door. Electromagnetic waves generated in the cooking chamber can be prevented from leaking to the outside.

LATCH HOLDER HAVING AUTOMATIC OPENING STRUCTURE AND AN APPLIANCE WITH AUTOMATIC OPENING DOOR USING LATCH HOLDER

A lever pushes a latch drawn into a hook accommodating space in a latch holder in a direction where a door opens is installed in the latch holder, and the latch is released from the latch holder using the lever. The door that is opened by an initial opening angle by the latch holder releasing the latch automatically opens by self-weight of the door.

Microwave oven having generator power supply

A microwave oven and a method of operating the same is provided herein. The method includes the steps of: sensing that a door of the microwave is in an open state; interrupting a power input to a generator power supply unit comprising a first converter, a first energy reserve, a second energy reserve located downstream from the first energy reserve, and a second converter located between the first and second energy reserves; detecting an input voltage; and disabling the second converter if the detected input voltage is less than a threshold voltage that is proportional to the detected input voltage, wherein disabling the second converter triggers the second energy reserve to discharge, and wherein the time necessary to discharge the second energy reserve is free of influence from the first energy reserve and is independent of the detected input voltage.
