OVER-THE-RANGE MICROWAVES HAVING ONE OR MORE AIRFLOW FEATURES
20210068211 · 2021-03-04 ·

A microwave appliance, as provided herein, may include a cabinet, a door, and an air handler. The cabinet may extend in a lateral direction between a first side end and a second side end. The door may be movably mounted to the cabinet at the first side end or the second side end to move between an open position permitting access to a cooking chamber and a closed position restricting access to the cooking chamber. The door may include a peripheral frame and a front window bounded by the peripheral frame. The peripheral frame may define an air inlet and an air outlet downstream from the air inlet. The air outlet may be defined below the front window. The air handler may be mounted within the door in fluid communication between the air inlet and the air outlet to motivate an airflow therethrough.

OVER-THE-RANGE MICROWAVES HAVING ONE OR MORE AIRFLOW FEATURES

A microwave appliance, as provided herein, may include an outer casing, an inner liner, a door, and an air handler. The outer casing may define an air inlet above a cooktop appliance. The outer casing may extend in a lateral direction between a first side end and a second side end. The inner casing may define a cooking chamber. The door may include a peripheral frame and a front window bounded by the peripheral frame. The peripheral frame may define an air outlet downstream from the air inlet and below the front window along the vertical direction. The air handler may be mounted within the outer casing in fluid communication between the air inlet and the air outlet to motivate an airflow therethrough. The air outlet may define an airflow curtain path extending outward from the outer casing in front of the door.

A cooking device is described. The cooking device includes a main body. The cooking device includes a ventilation apparatus that is located at a lower side of the main body, that is configured to suck air into the main body, and that is configured to discharge air from the main body. The ventilation apparatus includes a base that is connected to the lower side of the main body and that includes an introduction port. The ventilation apparatus includes a swirler that is configured to generate suction by rotating air around the introduction port of the base and that includes a plurality of wings. The ventilation apparatus includes a driving unit that is configured to rotate the swirler. The ventilation apparatus includes a swirler guide that is configured to cover an underside of the swirler and that is configured to guide a flow of air around a center of the swirler.

Cooking engagement system equipped with infrared sensor

A cooking engagement system and methods therefore are provided. The system includes a cooktop appliance and an interactive assembly positioned above the cooktop appliance. The interactive assembly includes an image monitor that presents various images and information to a user, e.g., recipes. The system includes an infrared sensor for detecting operation of the cooktop appliance. When the infrared sensor senses a temperature level that exceeds a threshold, a controller communicatively coupled thereto activates an air handler to move or motivate an airflow across or about the image monitor. In this way, the image monitor may be cooled and condensation is prevented from forming on the imaging surface of the image monitor.

Cooking exhaust systems having one or more airflow features

An exhaust system for a cooking or cooktop appliance is provided herein. The exhaust system may include a casing, an image monitor, an air handler, and a diverter plate. The casing may define an air inlet and an air outlet above a cooktop appliance. The image monitor may be supported on the casing rearward from the air outlet. The image monitor may include an imagining surface extending in a vertical direction between a top edge and a bottom edge. The air handler may be mounted within the casing in fluid communication between the air inlet and outlet. The diverter plate may be attached to the casing below the imaging surface. The air outlet may be defined proximal to the top edge and may define a coolant airflow path. The diverter plate may define an airflow curtain path extending outward from the coolant airflow path.

COOKING APPLIANCE WITH REPOSITIONABLE VENT ARM

A venting appliance for use with a cooking appliance including a cooktop with at least one cooking element disposed thereon, where the venting appliance may include: a housing configured to be positioned above the cooktop; a repositionable vent arm coupled to and extending below the housing; and a controller coupled to the repositionable vent arm and configured to determine that a first cooking element among at least one cooking elements is active, and in response thereto, automatically reposition the vent arm to be closer to the first cooking element.

Method for operating fans within an appliance

A method for operating fans within a microwave appliance is provided. The microwave appliance includes a sensor fan and an exhaust fan. The method includes operating the sensor fan of the microwave appliance when the exhaust fan of the microwave appliance is running. The sensor fan of the microwave appliances urges air over a sensor of the microwave appliance when the sensor fan is operating.

COOKING APPLIANCE

The present disclosure relates to a cooking appliance disposed above a household appliance to simultaneously perform a hood function and an oven function. The cooking appliance includes a housing, a base plate configured to be coupled to the housing, a cooking chamber disposed inside the housing, a door coupled to the housing to open and close the cooking chamber, and a deflector spaced apart from a lower end of the door and coupled to a front edge of the base plate to cover the lower end of the door from hot air generated and transferred from a household appliance installed below the base plate.
