A modular cooking apparatus is disclosed. The modular cooking apparatus includes a housing having a first interchangeable cooking module, a second interchangeable cooking module, and a single power connection for receiving electrical power from a wall outlet. The first interchangeable cooking module contains a first oven, and the second interchangeable cooking module contains a second oven. The second oven is a different oven type from the first oven. The modular cooking apparatus also includes a controller within the housing for controlling the first and second ovens. The controller includes a memory for storing a list of food items to be cooked within the modular cooking apparatus and a corresponding oven type for each of the food items. The modular cooking apparatus further includes a control panel on the housing for displaying only the food items for which the first oven or the second oven is a corresponding oven type.

A food recognition system includes a sensor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium. The sensor is configured to acquire data regarding (i) a respective type of each of multiple food products and (ii) a positioning of the multiple food products relative to one another spaced along a single conveyor. The non-transitory computer-readable medium has instructions stored thereon. The instructions, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to control the single conveyor and a heating element to facilitate providing independent zone processing based on the data such that the multiple food products spaced along the single conveyor can be processed with different operating parameters as the single conveyor moves the multiple food products simultaneously through a processing zone of the food preparation appliance to achieve target processing for each of the multiple food products.

A method for operating a cooking appliance, comprising: (a) providing a database with operating parameters of the cooking appliance; (b) obtaining recipe data from a recipe source; (c) extracting cooking process parameters from the obtained recipe data; (d) determining adapted cooking parameters by evaluating the extracted cooking process parameters in light of data from the database, and optionally of settings made by a user; and (e) operating the cooking appliance based on the adapted cooking parameters.

An information processing apparatus according to one aspect of the present technology performs: holding recipe data including at least information indicating a content of cooking work and information indicating a target state, for each of a plurality of cooking steps in which the target state is individually defined by a value of a target parameter including a parameter based on sensor data measurable at a time of cooking; and controlling the cooking work on the basis of the recipe data until a state of cooking in each of the cooking steps reaches a state defined as the target state. The present technology can be applied to a system that assists cooking in a kitchen.
