Electrical component and method for the production thereof

An electrical component includes an electrical part and a flat carrier on which the electrical part is disposed. A housing accommodates the carrier with the electrical part such that the part on the carrier is situated opposite a housing section to which the carrier is connected. An annular casing composed of a flexible material completely surrounds the electrical part and bears against the carrier by way of its first end and against the housing section by way of its second end. A potting compound surrounds the electrical part within the casing and at least partially fills the free volume. A method for producing an electrical component is also provided.

A power module for operating an electric vehicle drive, comprising power switches for generating an output current based on an input current; control electronics for controlling the power switches including a first region, to which a first electric potential is applied, and a second region, to which a second electric potential is applied, wherein the second electric potential is higher than the first electric potential; a heatsink for discharging heat generated by the power switches and the control electronics; a shielding layer for electrically shielding the control electronics placed between the heatsink and the control electronics, such that the control electronics lies on the shielding layer, and the shielding layer lies on the heatsink; wherein the shielding layer is designed to connect the heatsink thermally and electrically to the first region, and thermally to the second region, and electrically insulate it therefrom.

A thermal management system may cool at least a portion of a computer system with one or more cooling systems. The thermal management system can include one or more modular heatsink assemblies. The modular heatsink assemblies can include scalable heat spreader panels that are thermally coupled to a portion of the one or more cooling systems. The modular heatsink assembly can be positioned above and/or adjacent to a computer component, such as a dual in-line memory module. The scalable heat spreader panels are shaped to fit in between and to the sides of the computing component to draw heat away from the computing component.

A rack assembly unit for mounting a control unit to a vehicle rack system is provided; a rack chassis and a tray are configured to receive the control unit for coupling to a vehicle system. The tray is movably coupled to the rack chassis at a coupling mechanism, which provides for movement of the tray relative to the rack chassis between open and closed positions. At the open position, the tray is spaced apart from rack chassis to facilitate user access to the tray and receiving the control unit therein. At the closed position, the tray is located fully inserted relative to the rack chassis and such that the control unit located in the tray is provided at a control unit operating position thermally coupled to a cold plate of a cooling system to provide for cooling of components of the control unit.

An improved electronic control unit for a motor vehicle comprises a printed circuit board in a one-piece bucket-style housing. The printed circuit board includes a heat-producing electrical component, and the housing includes a heat sink. During assembly of the electronic control unit, the printed circuit board is slid into the housing through an opening in the housing and along a pair of side rails. At the end of the side rails opposite the opening, there is a ramp that lifts the PCB towards the top wall of the housing, thus allowing the electrical component to thermally couple with the heat sink.
