SAMPLE CONTAINER WITH PEELABLE SEAL AND ACCESS PORT
An apparatus includes a flexible container, a port, and a support structure. The container includes a first layer coupled to a second layer to define a storage volume within which a tissue specimen can be contained. The first layer is characterized by a first stiffness and the second layer characterized by a second stiffness. An edge of the first layer is spaced apart from an edge of the second layer to define an opening into the storage volume. The edge of the first layer and the edge of the second layer are configured to form a peelable seal that hermetically seals the storage volume such that the first layer can be peeled away from the second layer to expose the storage volume. The port is coupled to the flexible container and allows fluid communication between the storage volume and an external volume. The support structure is configured to support the tissue specimen within the storage volume and is characterized by a third stiffness. The third stiffness is greater than the first stiffness and the second stiffness.
Apparatus for tissue transport and preservation
Systems and methods of the invention generally relate to prolonging viability of bodily tissue, especially lung tissue, through the use of an expandable accumulator to maintain a constant pressure within the lumen of the organ even during external pressure fluctuations due to, for example, flight. Systems and methods may include prolonging donor organ viability in storage through the use of an organ container that mimics the geometry and orientation of the organ in vivo.
Red Blood Cell Products and the Storage of Red Blood Cells in Containers Free of Phthalate Plasticizer
Red blood cell products and compositions are disclosed. The product includes a container made from PVC or a non-PVC material that is substantially free of a phthalate plasticizer but otherwise includes one or more non-phthalate plasticizers or extractable agents. The product includes a RBC concentrate which has been combined with an additive solution for storing the RBCs.
MEDICAL SAMPLE TRANSPORTATION CONTAINER
A portable apparatus and method for transport and incubation of a medical sample in a blood culture flask includes a sealable container having a thermally insulated compartment for receiving the blood culture flask and a heater for heating the medical sample to a temperature suitable for pre-culturing of the sample. An agitator is provided for agitating the sample in the blood culture flask.
TRANSPORT DEVICE WITH AN INNER CONTAINER
Disclosed herein is a transport device comprising a first section of an outer container comprising a shell on the inside having the shape of a spherical cap with an inner diameter and an opening, wherein the opening of the spherical cap faces upwards, and an inner container having an upper section, a lower section and an inner hollow volume defined thereby, wherein at least the lower section has a spherical shape on the outside, the outer diameter of which is smaller than the inner diameter of the spherical cap of the outer container. The inner container is suitable to be arranged in the spherical cap of the outer container in a freely pivotable fashion, and is capable of accommodating a payload.
TEMPERATURE CONTROL CASE
A temperature control case comprising an outer case 1, a heat-insulating material 2 disposed inside the outer case 1, and a heat storage material 3 disposed inside the heat-insulating material 2, the heat storage material 3 having a container 4 disposed inside it.
Multi-Functional Cryogenic Storage Vessel
Systems and devices with enhanced stability to kinetic impact for the containment of cryogenically preserved material. A device comprising a vessel with increased surface to volume ratio when compared to cylindrical vessels of like capacity, and further comprising a material that remains resistant to shock and impact at cryogenic temperatures while providing a continuous barrier of a single material surrounding the vessel contents. The device further comprising a design that may be readily modified to include internalized sensors, enhanced interfacing to external instruments, provide optimized thaw rate, and post-thawing sample processing capabilities.
DUAL-CHAMBER VIAL FOR CORNEAL GRAFT PRESERVATION
A device and method for preserving corneal graft tissue. In one embodiment, a device for preserving corneal graft tissue comprises: a first chamber; a second chamber; and a corneal graft tissue suspension assembly that is configured to retain and suspend the corneal graft tissue between the first chamber and the second chamber, the first chamber being fluidly isolated from the second chamber when the corneal graft tissue is graft tissue is retained and suspended within the corneal graft tissue suspension assembly. In one embodiment, a method includes filling a first chamber of a device with a first preservation medium and filling a second chamber of the device with a second preservation medium different than or the same as the first, a corneal graft tissue being located between the first and second chambers.
ORGAN CONTAINER
An organ container includes an opening that allows passage of an organ and a pouch-shaped insulating sheet that holds an organ inserted through the opening. The insulating sheet has an inner surface of an uneven shape. This uneven shape suppresses slipping or coming off of the organ from the insulating sheet. Accordingly, it is possible to stably hold the organ in the insulating sheet and to suppress a temperature rise in the organ caused by the body temperature of a recipient or the outside air temperature.
