LIGHT-EMITTING ELEMENT
A light-emitting element includes: anode; a cathode; a light-emitting layer, and containing a light-emitting material; a hole-transport layer, and containing an organic hole-transport material; a hole-injection layer disposed between the anode and the hole-transport layer, and containing an inorganic hole-transport material; and an organic layer disposed between the hole-transport layer and the hole-injection layer. The organic layer contains an aromatic compound having: a functional group R.sup.1 capable of chemically bonding to the inorganic hole-transport material; a functional group R.sup.2 that is a functional group containing at an end at least one selected from a hydrogen atom, a nitro group, a cyano group, a halogen group, a carboxyl group, an aldehyde group, a hydroxyl group, an ester bond with one to three carbons, an alkyl group with one to three carbons or an amid group; and an aromatic ring to which each of the R.sup.1 and the R.sup.2 bonds.

ORGANOELECTROLUMINESCENT DEVICE USING POLYCYCLIC AROMATIC COMPOUNDS
An organoelectroluminescent device according to the present invention employs compounds of characteristic structures as a hole transport material and a dopant material in a hole injection layer or a hole transport layer, and in an emissive layer, respectively, and thus can be driven at a low voltage and realize highly efficient emission characteristics with excellent external quantum efficiency. Thus, the organoelectroluminescent device may be industrially advantageously used in a flexible display device, a flexible display device, a single-color or white-color flat lighting device, a single-color or shite-color flexible lighting device, and the like.

In Formula I, ring A is a heterocyclic ring; ring B is a 5- or 6-membered ring, and rings C and D are 6-membered rings; one of Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2, and Z.sup.3 is N and the remainder are C; at least one of K.sup.1, K.sup.2, and K.sup.3 is O or S; one of L.sup.1 and L.sup.2 is absent and the other one is a direct bond or a linker; when m=0, L.sup.1 is not present and X.sub.1 is NR.sup.A′; each R, R′, R″, R.sup.A′, R.sup.A, R.sup.B, R.sup.C, and R.sup.D is independently hydrogen or a substituent selected from the general substituents defined herein; and any two substituents may be joined or fused together to form a ring. Formulations, OLEDs, and consumer products incorporating such compounds are also provided.

In Formula I, moiety X is a fused multicyclic ring system comprising two or more rings; rings A and B are independently a 5- or 6-membered carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; Z.sup.1, Z.sup.2, and Z.sup.3 are each C or N; K.sup.3 and K.sup.4 are each a direct bond, O, or S; each R.sup.A, R.sup.B, and R.sup.X is hydrogen or a substituent; and at least one of the following conditions is true: (1) ring B is partially or fully deuterated, or (2) at least one R.sup.B is an aryl or heteroaryl group that is partially or fully deuterated. The ligand L.sub.A is coordinated to a metal M through the dashed lines, and any two substituents except an R.sup.X with an R.sup.B may be joined to form a ring. Formulations, OLEDs, and consumer products containing these compounds are also provided.
