Provided are an insulated electric wire including an insulating coating made of a resin composition with high wear resistance, and a wire harness including the insulated electric wire. An insulated electric wire 10 includes an electric wire conductor 12, and an insulating coating 14 that coats the outer circumferential surface of the electric wire conductor 12, wherein the insulating coating 14 is made of a resin composition containing a thermoplastic polyester elastomer as a main component. Furthermore, a wire harness includes the insulated electric wire 10. The thickness of the insulating coating 14 is preferably less than 0.7 mm.

A high frequency flexible flat cable includes a first metal isolation layer, a first low-k dielectric adhesive layer attached to one side of the first metal isolation layer, a second low-k dielectric adhesive layer attached another side of the first metal isolation layer and at least two conductor layers respectively attached to the first low-k dielectric adhesive layer and the second low-k dielectric adhesive layer. In addition, the high frequency flexible flat cable further includes a third low-k dielectric adhesive layer, a fourth low-k dielectric adhesive layer, a second metal isolation layer and a third metal isolation layer. The second metal isolation layer and the third metal isolation layer are respectively adhered to outsides of the conductor layers by using the third low-k dielectric adhesive layer and the fourth low-k dielectric adhesive layer to adjust the impedance of the high frequency flexible flat cable according to requirements.

In some embodiments, the conductor comprises a plurality of conductor strands and one or more reinforcing strands arranged within an insulator jacket. Methods of making wires in accordance with various embodiments are also provided herein.

A ribbon cable with desirable properties including mechanical integrity, resistance to propagation of a flame, and a compact structure is provided. The ribbon cable may be formed by wrapping a flexible layer around a plurality of parallel cable cores. The flexible layer may be adhered to itself and may conform to the outer surfaces of the cores. The flexible layer may, at its edges, overlap such that the edges may be readily adhered to each other. Some or all of the cable cores may be individually shielded. The cable may also include metal foil adjacent one or two sides of the cable cores or, in some instances, encircling the cable cores.
