The conductive layer defines the inner side, the outer side, and the folded edge. The shielding tape is wrapped helically about the insulated conductors a plurality of times along a length of the communication cable to form a plurality of wraps. The inner side of a subsequent wrap of the shielding tape overlaps a portion of the outer side of a prior wrap of the shielding tape.
LOW-PROFILE CABLE ARMOR
Disclosed is a cable assembly including at least one conductor and a metal sheath disposed over the at least one conductor, the metal sheath including a continuous strip of metal having a plurality of revolutions. A first revolution of the plurality of revolutions may include a first section having a curved profile extending into an interior cavity of the metal sheath, and a second section extending from the first section, the second section extending along a lengthwise axis, wherein a length of the second section, along the lengthwise axis, is at least two times as large as a diameter of the first section when the metal sheath is in a linear configuration. The first revolution may further include a third section extending from the second section, the third section including a free end terminating within a recess defined by a curved profile of a first section of an adjacent revolution.
Provision of electrical continuity and/or radial support
Flexible pipe body, a flexible pipe and a method of manufacturing pipe body are disclosed. The flexible pipe body comprises a tensile armour layer and a supporting layer radially outside, or radially inside, and in an abutting relationship with the tensile armour layer. The supporting layer comprises a helically wound constraining tape element and a helically wound electrically conductive tape element.
Aperiodically overlapping spiral-wrapped cable shield system
An aperiodically overlapping spiral-wrapped cable shield system includes a cable having cable components such as a pair of conductors, at least one insulator surrounding the pair of conductors, and at least one drain wire. The cable also includes a cable shield that is spirally wrapped around the cable components with a varying wrap pitch that provides a plurality of overlapping cable shield portions with varying overlap areas. When signals are transmitted using the cable components in the cable, the varying overlap areas of the plurality of overlapping cable shield portions create a plurality of varying LC circuits that are configured to generate a resonance that does not exceed a signal integrity resonance threshold for a signals.
A Tool, a Method and an Apparatus for Mounting Rods Around a Central Core
A tool for mounting a set of helical rods around an elongated central core includes a pair of cartridges mounted opposite each other around the central core, so that the rods extend along the central core. Each cartridge has a first part comprising a through-hole for receiving one of the rods, and a second part comprising a through-hole for receiving another rod, the second part being movable with respect to the first part from an open position to a closed position. In the closed position, the parts form an annular body extending around a central opening for receiving the central core, the cartridge comprising a surface configured to engage with a driving wheel or a driving belt for transfer of torque to the cartridge. In the open position, a gap is provided between the parts so that the central opening is accessible from a position radially outside of the cartridge.
