In an example, a system includes a bracket and a fastener. The bracket includes a distal bracket portion defining an aperture. The aperture includes a first aperture section of a first width and a second aperture section of a second width. The second width is less than the first width. The bracket includes a proximal bracket portion extending from the distal bracket portion, a cavity defined by the distal bracket portion and the proximal bracket portion, and a magnet in the cavity and coupled to the proximal bracket portion. The fastener includes a stem extending from a first end to a second end. The first end is configured to couple to an object. The fastener includes a ferromagnetic retainer at the second end of the stem. The ferromagnetic retainer has a third width that is less than the first width and greater than the second width.

An item may be provided with a body that forms an enclosure. The body may have a body portion that opens and closes along a seam. An elongated magnetic fastener may run along the seam. The magnetic fastener may have first and second strips of elastomeric material on opposing sides of the seam. Magnetic interlocking elements may be partially embedded in the first and second elastomeric strips. The fastener may be formed by injecting uncured elastomeric material having unmagnetized magnetic particles into a mold. While in the mold, a magnetic field may be applied to magnetize the magnetic particles and to align the magnetic particles into magnetized structures. After forming the magnetized structures within the elastomeric material, the elastomeric material may be cured. Once removed from the mold, portions of the elastomeric material may be removed to expose the magnetized structures, which may subsequently be shaped into interlocking fastener elements.

Closure device for connecting a container e.g. to a bicycle

A closure device for connecting a container to a frame of a vehicle, in particular of a two-wheeler or a three-wheeler, includes a first closure part which is to be arranged on the frame and comprises a first magnet element and a second closure part which is assigned to the container and comprises a second magnet element. The second closure part is positionable on the first closure part in a closing direction and is latched mechanically with the first closure part in a closed position. The second closure part is releasably connectable to the container.

Magnetic fastener and hinged device using same

An apparatus having a fast drop-off in attraction force between magnets is provided. The apparatus includes a first magnet array having a plurality of magnets with different magnetic field orientations fixedly positioned in a first housing. The apparatus also includes an adjacent magnet assembly relative to the first magnet array and provided in a second housing that includes second and third magnet arrays, each having a plurality of magnets with different magnetic field orientations. The apparatus includes an activation mechanism configured to move the adjacent magnet assembly from at least a first relative position to a second relative position. The adjacent magnet assembly in the second relative position has a second magnetic attraction force with the first magnet array that is substantially reduced as compared to a first magnetic attraction force with the first magnet array in the first relative position. The magnet arrays may define a magnetic fastener controlling opening and/or closing of portions of a device.

MAGNETIC CLOSURE

A magnetic closure device has two complementary magnetic closure elements. Each of the two complementary magnetic closure elements includes an elongated magnet carrier having a single direction of main extension, and a plurality of permanent magnets supported by the magnet carrier in defined positions along the direction of main extension. Each of the permanent magnets is permanently magnetized either longitudinally or diametrically with regard to the direction of main extension. The permanent magnets following to each other in the direction of main extension are arranged in a closure alignment pattern having a magnetic non-repetition length extending over three or more of the permanent magnets. The magnet carrier is bendable in at least one direction orthogonal to the direction of main extension.

A jewelry clasp is disclosed and includes a first part including a first magnet, a first groove and a first catch and a second part including a second magnet, a second groove and a second catch. The first and second magnets generate an attractive force holding the first part to the second part, the first catch is received in the second groove and the second catch is received in the first groove. A relief disposed on at least one of the first part and the second part at an interface between the first part and the second part is provided to aid in releasing the first part from the second part.

A device incorporating both a magnet and a living hinge may be employed to construct cases to protect electronic devices and to function as a closure for cases and lidded containers. Such cases often can be bent three 360 allowing the cases to be either closed protecting devices therein are closed upon themselves allowing the case to function to secure an electronic device to a substrate such as an article of clothing. The devices of the disclosure can also be used to organize and hold loose items together.
