Portable electronic device capable of preventing a display from falling
09864402 · 2018-01-09 · ·

A portable electronic device utilizes a control unit for controlling a power unit to provide electricity for an electromagnetic component to generate a first active magnetic property for magnetically repulsing or magnetically attracting a moving magnetic component with a first magnetic property, so as to drive the moving magnetic component to move to a first position when the control unit determines an included angle between a first module and a second module is greater than a predetermined angle. When the moving magnetic component is located at the first position, a pivoting mechanism disposed between a supporting frame and the second module drives the supporting frame to pivotally unfold relative to the second module, so as to support the second module on a supporting surface, which prevents the second module from falling.

A mechanism for fixing together first and second parts and comprising first and second guides provided respectively in or attached to the first and second parts. The mechanism further comprises first and second magnetic components coupled respectively to the first and second guides such that the first magnetic component is rotatable with the first guide and the first part, and the second magnetic component cannot rotate relative to the second guide, the magnetic components being moveable axially and rotationally with respect to each other and having magnetic poles oriented such that rotation of said first magnetic component causes relative axial movement of the magnetic components between a locking position in which one of the magnetic components straddles the two guides and an unlocking position in which it does not straddle the two guides.

System and method for tailoring magnetic forces

A magnetic system described herein includes first and second magnetic structures that simultaneously produce repel forces and attract forces that combine to produce a composite force that can be an attract force, a repel force, or a force that transitions from an attract force to a repel force.

Detachable Retainer Straps

Magnetic retainers for detachably holding and suspending items such as cell phones from a user or support comprise a hanger and a holder that are magnetically coupled together. The holder is removably attached to an item such as a cell phone, and the hanger is removably suspended from the phone user. The hanger selectively, detachably couples to the harness with vertically aligned permanent magnets. The hanger may comprise a loop, clip, or lanyard that is worn or held by the user or attached to a static support. The holder is retrofitted to cell phone structure with a flexible, anti-slip sticky-tape connection that is removably, adhesively secured between parts of the cell phone body, its interior, or its case, being sandwiched and restrained between abutting parts. Magnets are permanently attached to remote ends or portions of the hanger and holder through either a shrink wrap connection or a snap fitting arrangement.

Magnetic clamping device for magnetically clamping to a magnetically attracted material and having a dampening means
09679689 · 2017-06-13 ·

There is provided a magnetic clamping device (10) for magnetically clamping to a magnetically attracted material (30). The device comprises at least one permanent clamping magnet (14, 44) for magnetically clamping to the magnetically attracted material wherein the magnet is movable relative to the magnetically attracted material from a position remote from the magnetically attracted material to a clamping position for the clamping of the material by the magnet. The device also includes damping means (22, 24) for damping the movement of the clamping magnet to the clamping position. The damping means biases the clamping magnet away from the magnetically attracted material to assist release of the clamping magnet from the magnetically attracted material. In addition, the device has support means (16, 40, 58) to which the clamping magnet is mounted for the relative movement of the clamping magnet from the remote position to the clamping position and for withdrawing the clamping magnet relative to the magnetically attracted material to release the magnetically attracted material. There is also provided a method for clamping the magnetically attracted material (30) using the clamping device (10). The clamping device may, for example, be a device for securing a load to the magnetically attracted material, a lifting device, a device for holding a work piece in position, or a welding clamp.

MAGNETO-MECHANICAL CLAMPING DEVICE
20170162312 · 2017-06-08 ·

A clamping mechanism comprising a first part provided with a first magnetic component, a second part, and a third part provided with a second magnetic component and being coupled to the second part. The mechanism is such that, bringing the first and second parts together along an axis causes rotational alignment and relative radial movement of the first and second magnetic components to effect axial clamping of the first part to the second part, and wherein relative rotation of the first and third parts to misalign the first and second magnetic components reverses this radial movement and effects unclamping of the first and second parts.

Apparatus and method for forming a magnet assembly
09673688 · 2017-06-06 · ·

An apparatus for forming a magnet assembly may comprise a base, a bearing assembly, and a support structure positioning mechanism. The bearing assembly may be configured to support a magnet and to allow the magnet to rotate about an axis normal to a surface of the base. The support structure positioning mechanism may be configured to position a support structure on the magnet when the magnet is on the base. The base may comprise at least one magnet alignment feature that causes the magnet to rotate about the axis to a preferred angular orientation corresponding to a lower energy configuration as a function of angle about the axis as the magnet moves closer to the base. The bearing assembly may be movable along the axis to allow the magnet to be moved closer to the base and cause the magnet to achieve the preferred angular orientation.
