Arc fault resistant electric equipment
Conductive elements (104A-C) are positioned within a housing (100) of an electric device. The conductive elements (104A-C) are arranged such that in an event of an electric arc (106) occurring between the conductive elements (104A-C) an electromagnetic force is exerted upon plasma of the electric arc (106) such that the electric arc (106) is directed towards a wall (108) of the housing (100). Furthermore, a conductor configuration (102) includes conductors (104A, 104B, 104C) and sacrificial electrodes (118A-C) positioned within a housing (100) of an electric device, wherein the conductors (104A-C) are arranged such that in an event of an electric arc (106) occurring between the conductors (104A-C) an electromagnetic force is exerted upon plasma of the electric arc (105) such that the electric arc (106) is directed towards the sacrificial electrodes (118A-C).
CIRCUIT BREAKER INCLUDING SINGLE POLE BREAKING UNIT
Provided is a circuit breaker with a single pole breaking unit including a housing, a movable contact provided in the housing, a fixed contact provided in the housing and contacting or separated from the movable contact, and an extinction unit provided in the housing and configured to extinguish an arc generated when the movable contact and the fixed contact are separated. At least one arc gas discharge passage is formed in the housing to allow an arc gas generated when the movable contact and the fixed contact are separated to be discharged.
Electrical apparatus for breaking an electric current in air comprising an improved extinguishing gas filtering device
An electrical apparatus for breaking an electric current includes an electrical arc extinguishing chamber, for extinguishing an electrical arc formed on the separation of electric contacts, provided with an extinguishing gas exhaust orifice and an extinguishing gas filtration system, placed at the output of the exhaust orifice and including a filter and a gas diffusor. The gas diffuser includes, superposed between them, a central layer and two outer layers arranged on either side of the central layer. The central layer is provided with first through holes. Each outer layer is provided with second through holes. The first holes are misaligned relative to the second holes so that each of the second holes emerges on a solid portion of the central layer without any first hole.
Circuit breakers, arc expansion chambers, and operating methods
A circuit breaker having first and second electrical contacts configured to generate an electrical arc upon being separated, an arc chamber surrounding at least a portion of a space between the first and second electric contacts, at least one expansion chamber positioned proximate to the arc chamber, and an arc pressure control valve assembly configured to allow threshold-based flow into and out of the at least one expansion chamber. An arc pressure control valve assembly and method of operating a circuit breaker are described, as are other aspects.
Relay assembly with exhaust cover
In some aspects, a relay assembly having an exhaust cover is provided. The relay assembly can include a housing, a relay enclosed within the housing, and the exhaust cover. The exhaust cover can be positioned in an opening of the housing that is adjacent to the relay. The exhaust cover can move in a direction away from the relay in response to a pressure generated inside the housing by the relay being communicated to the exhaust cover.
