A high voltage motor operated in-line double break disconnect switch suspended by an electric power line conductor wherein the switch includes a horizontally rotating switch blade, that is suspended by a motor output shaft attached to the midpoint of a blade of the switch blade to balance the blade. A communication system for controlling the motor including a switch mounted radio which may be controlled by another radio located at a distance and powered by a solar charged battery or alternatively controlled by a hand-held controller. The motorized in-line double break disconnect switch may also be arranged in a three phase installation in a two-way or three-way switching arrangement attached to a utility pole or other structure. The communication system controlled motorized in line double break disconnect switch may in addition be arranged in a phase over phase switching arrangement supported by a utility pole or other structure.

A circuit breaker includes an interrupter configured to selectively prevent a flow of electrical current through the circuit breaker, and an assembly. The assembly includes a housing, an interrupter mechanism, and an arc protection mechanism. The housing includes an opening configured to channel an arc fault discharge generated during an arc fault into the housing. The interrupter mechanism is coupled to the housing and the interrupter, and is configured to move the interrupter between a first position and a second position, wherein the first position prevents a flow of electrical current through the circuit breaker and the second position permits a flow of electrical current through the circuit breaker. The arc protection mechanism is within the housing and is configured to receive the arc fault discharge through the housing and to cause the interrupter to move to the first position in response to the arc fault discharge.

The plate or frame is provided with holes, in which gastight mechanical feedthroughs are arranged, through which the standardized circuit breaker drive is coupled with each vacuum interrupter in the circuit breaker pole part arrangement.

A switchgear unit includes a gas-insulated compartment and a circuit interrupter in the gas-insulated compartment and mounted on a wall thereof, the circuit interrupter having an actuator rod extending through the wall and outside of gas-insulated compartment. The switchgear unit further includes a sealed operating mechanism compartment adjacent the gas-insulated compartment and having an operating mechanism therein that engages the actuator rod. The circuit interrupter may be included in a vacuum circuit interrupter assembly having a base mounted to the wall and including a bellows through which the actuator rod passes.

MULTI-PART MOVING SHAFT ASSEMBLY FOR ULTRA HIGH SPEED ACTUATOR USED IN A HYBRID CIRCUIT BREAKER

Multi-part assemblies for driving a movable conductor away from a stationary conductor of a circuit interrupter decrease separable contact opening time by reducing the number of components that must travel during an initial stage of an opening stroke to achieve an initial gap between the separable contacts. The components that must travel in order to open the separable contacts are included in only some portions of the movable assembly, rather than all portions. In one embodiment, a split switch shaft coupled to a movable conductor includes a head shaft coupled to a tail shaft using a sliding pin, enabling the head shaft to travel an initial distance while the tail shaft remains stationary, thus achieving an initial gap between the contacts. In another embodiment, the movable conductor assembly is coupled to hydraulics, enabling the assembly to travel an initial distance at high speeds before damping by the hydraulic fluid.

A sliding bearing provides sliding support for the moving contact for its movement towards and away from the stationary contact. The sliding bearing has an electrically conductive material and at least partially electrically insulates the housing body. A spring element is supported on a spring support and presses the moving electrical contact in the direction of the stationary electrical contact. There is also provided a circuit with a main current path and a parallel auxiliary current path. The vacuum switch device is arranged in the auxiliary current path.
