A switchgear, in particular a circuit protection device, includes: a housing; a fixed contact that is fixed to the housing; a movable contact, the movable contact being arranged on a contact arm that is arranged in the switchgear so as to be movable; a latching device that is connected to the contact arm; a manual actuation device that has an actuation projection, which manual actuation device is connected to the latching device by a bar, the movable contact being brought into contact with the fixed contact when the actuation projection is moved from an off-position of the actuation projection to an on-position of the actuation projection. When the actuation projection is moved from the on-position towards the off-position as far as a specified trip position of the actuation projection, the bar remains still. When the projection is moved past the trip position, the bar is moved past a holding point.

The energy storage assembly and the rotating shaft assembly are mounted at one side of the driving shaft, and the control assembly is mounted at the other side of the driving shaft. The connecting rod assembly is connected with the rotating shaft assembly. The cam assembly can be in contact and connection with the energy storage assembly to push the energy storage assembly to store energy. The control assembly can be connected with the connecting rod assembly and the cam assembly in a latching manner. The energy storage operation mechanism for the circuit breaker, which is provided by the present invention, is compact in structure and high in reliability.

The circuit breaker is configured such that a process for interrupting the current flow in the low-voltage circuit by the mechanical separating contact unit and/or the electronic interruption unit is initiated if current thresholds or current/time thresholds are exceeded. The circuit breaker is also configured such that the contact of the mechanical separating contact unit can be closed by the handle only after a release signal for closing the contact is provided.
