SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING A SILK FIBROIN SOLUTION AND POWDERS CONTAINING SILK FIBROIN
The disclosure relates to systems and methods for improving the manufacturing of silk solutions and powders containing silk fibroin obtained from silkworm cocoons. The solutions and powders can be used to improve the post-harvest preservation of perishables and to improve the performance of packaging, including biodegradable packaging.
PROTEINS FOR STABILIZATION OF BIOLOGICAL MATERIAL
Embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to methods and compositions for stabilizing biological material using intrinsically disordered proteins. In an embodiment, a composition is provided, the composition including a first component comprising at least one intrinsically disordered protein; and a second component comprising at least one biological material of interest, at least one biologically-derived material of interest, or both, the second component being free of the at least one intrinsically disordered protein. The methods and compositions include at least one intrinsically disordered protein that can be modified to prevent, or at least mitigate, polymerization thereof and the formation of gel-like matrices, thereby, e.g., improving the ability of the intrinsically disordered proteins to protect and stabilize sensitive biological materials.

COMPOUNDS AND FORMULATIONS FOR PROTECTIVE COATINGS
The present disclosure relates to protective coatings e.g., on agricultural products, that can include a glycerophospholipid bilayer structure formed on the surface of the agricultural product.
METHODS AND ARTICLES FOR KEEPING FOOD FRESHER FOR LONGER AND SHELF-LIFE EXTENSION TO ENHANCE FOOD SECURITY AND SAFETY
Disclosed is technology to solve the problem in a world that is inundated with microbes of keeping food fresher for longer and shelf-life extension to enhance food security and safety without refrigeration/freezing, chemical preservatives integrated into the food product and/or physically/chemically altering the food product. Aspects of the technology are directed at the three levels of the food delivery system; namely, supermarket style display ware, bulk packaging and overseas container. This technological problem is solved by situating on food contacting/abutting surfaces of display ware, bulk packaging and oversees containers an antimicrobe agent formulated as a composition comprised of (i) between about 0.25% (w/w) to about 0.75% (w/w) benzalkonium chloride; (ii) between about 0.02% (w/w) to about 1.00% (w/w) of a kill agent selected from the group consisting of hydrogen peroxide and phenoxyethanol; (iii) between about 0.25% (w/w) to about 0.75% (w/w) 3-(tri-methoxysilyl)propyldimethyl octadecyl ammonium chloride and (iv) between about 97.50% (w/w) to about 99.48% deionized water.
COMPOSITION PACKED IN CONTAINER, USE THEREOF, AND PROCESSED FOOD PACKED IN CONTAINER
The purpose of the present invention is to provide a container-packed composition in which a heat deterioration smell, such as a retort smell based on contained ingredients such as soy sauce, meat, and soybean protein, is reduced; a processed food using the composition and a method of producing the processed food; and a composition in which a smell specific to meat is suppressed, and a flavor of the meat is improved so as to impart umami of meat, regardless of the type of meat. The purpose is achieved by: a container-packed composition containing at least one ingredient selected from the group consisting of a seasoning component, vegetables, meat, and seafood and having a phenethyl acetate content of 1.0 ppb or more and less than 1,000 ppb; and a container-packed composition containing animal meat and having a phenethyl acetate content of 1 ppb or more and less than 1,500 ppb.
