COMPOSITIONS FOR A MEDICAL DEVICE COMPRISING EXOPOLYSACCHARIDE-PRODUCING BACTERIAL STRAINS IN ASSOCIATION WITH GUMS AND/OR GELATINES
A composition for a medical device is described. The composition comprises a specific mucoadherent gelling complex composed of EPS, exopolysaccharides of bacterial origin produced in situ in the gastrointestinal tract by specific selected bacterial strains, in association with vegetable gums and/or animal and/or vegetable gelatines. The complex is capable of establishing a complete barrier effect of a mechanical type extending throughout the whole gastrointestinal tract and can be used as a medication for the prevention and treatment of all pathologies connected to a deficiency in the barrier effect in the gastrointestinal area due to a low production of mucus, such as, by way of non-exhaustive example, intestinal permeability and bacterial translocation.
Composition and method for preparing frozen gelatin dessert
Provided is a gelatin dessert which can be frozen and stored in the freezer for at least 6 months. Upon thawing, the gelatin dessert is a ready to use dessert that has desirable mouthfeel and organoleptic properties. The dessert comprises gelatine, sugar, inulin, wheat fiber, acacia gum, emulsifier, starch and water.
Methods and Apparatus for Shape-Changing Food
An edible structure may comprise a gelatin film and fiber strips. The gelatin film may have a higher density of gelatin in a first layer of the film than in a second layer of the film. The fiber strips may be attached to the first layer, and may have an initial orientation, thickness and density. The structure may be configured to undergo a shape transformation when the apparatus hydrates. During the transformation, the film may transform from a flat film into a curved, 3D film. Which specific shape results from the transformation may depend, at least in part, on the initial orientation, thickness and density of the fiber strips. The film may include flavorings or other additives. In some cases, the transformation may change a texture of the structure. In some cases, the transformation may be caused, at least in part, by a change in temperature.
CHILLED JUICE EXTRACTION PROCESSES AND PRODUCTS USING PSYCHEDELIC AND FUNCTIONAL MUSHROOMS
Disclosed herein are methods of extracting active agents from fungi, in particular psychedelic and functional fungi, and including methods of extracting active agents from fungi using certain natural solvents at particular defined parameters to make extracts and products therefrom having increased palatability and reduced unwanted side effects compared to known extracts and products. Also disclosed are medicinal food and beverage products comprising extracts with one or more active agents obtained using the disclosed methods, as well as methods of their use, such as to produce an effect, or to treat a condition or disorder.
METHODS OF PROCESSING COLLAGEN FROM ANIMAL TISSUE
Processes are provided that yield high molecular weight collagen without enzymatic or chemical treatment, preserving triple helical content of native collagen. Processing conditions and energy input on animal tissue supply streams can be controlled to obtain collagen compositions with desirable yields and properties, including ratios of denatured and nondenatured collagen with reduced processing time and higher mass throughput.
Effervescent composition for forming a gelled composition, tablet for forming a gelled composition, and method of making a gelled composition
A method of making a gelled composition that includes combining water and an effervescent tablet in a vessel, the effervescent tablet including at least 200 mg gelatin and an effervescent couple that includes an acid and a base, heating an aqueous composition (e.g., in a microwave oven), optionally adding cold water to the heated composition, and chilling the composition for a period sufficient for the composition to form a gel.
NEW COLOR FOR GUMS AND JELLIES
The present invention is directed to gums and jellies comprising a milled rhodoxanthin form with an average particle size D(v,0.5) of the milled rhodoxanthin in the form in the range of from 400 to 600 nm, more preferably in the range of from 500 nm to 600 nm, whereby the average particle size is measured by Laser Diffraction; Malvern Mastersizer 3000, MIE volume distribution. The present invention is also directed to such a milled rhodoxanthin form, its manufacture and its use for coloring gums (especially gummy bears) and jellies.
Treating low production of mucus in the gastrointestinal tract with S. thermophilus
MICROCAPSULES COMPRISING LUTEIN OR LUTEIN ESTER
The invention relates to a microcapsule comprising at least one active substance selected from lutein and lutein esters embedded in a matrix comprising fish gelatine and optionally one or more other matrix components, wherein the content of said at least one active substance calculated as free lutein is from 0.5 to 25% of total weight of the microcapsule, and which microcapsule does not comprise any added emulsifier.
The invention further relates to a process of preparing the microcapsule as well as uses and products comprising the microcapsule.
ALL-NATURAL ENTERIC SOFT CAPSULES
Described herein are soft capsules and enteric soft capsules comprising cationic Type A gelatin and acid insoluble enteric polymers. In particular, the compositions and methods for manufacturing all-natural enteric soft capsules comprising Type A gelatin and matrix fills are described. In one embodiment, the enteric soft capsules comprise active ingredients such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). In another embodiment, the enteric soft capsule comprises matrix fills of omega-3 fatty acids.
