Smoking article with liquid release component having frangible shell

A smoking article (10) incorporates a liquid release component (20), the liquid release component comprising an inner core of a sustained release liquid delivery material and a frangible outer shell encapsulating the inner core. The liquid delivery material comprises a closed matrix structure comprising a cross-linked polymer matrix defining a plurality of domains; and a liquid composition that is trapped within the domains and is releasable from the closed matrix structure upon compression of the material. The frangible outer coating comprises at least one film-forming polymer and at least one plasticiser.

COMPOSITION USEFUL TO SIMULATE TOBACCO AROMA
20200060329 · 2020-02-27 ·

The present invention relates to a synthetic composition which may be used to simulate a tobacco aroma. The composition comprises two or more of components A, B, C, D and/or E. As a result of providing a synthetic composition which may be used to simulate a tobacco aroma, it is possible to provide a more simple composition compared to tobacco extracts.

METHODS TO ADD MENTHOL, BOTANIC MATERIALS, AND/OR NON-BOTANIC MATERIALS TO A CARTRIDGE, AND/OR AN ELECTRONIC VAPING DEVICE INCLUDING THE CARTRIDGE
20190387802 · 2019-12-26 · ·

A cartridge may include a housing, a liquid supply reservoir in the housing and configured to store a pre-vapor formulation, a vaporizer, and a porous plug. The vaporizer may be in liquid communication with the liquid supply reservoir. The vaporizer may be configured to generate a vapor from heating a portion of the pre-vapor formulation. The porous plug may be connected to the housing and separated from the liquid supply reservoir. The porous plug may be permeable to the vapor. The porous plug may enclose a flavoring additive contacting a storage material. The flavoring additive may be configured to at least partially elute from the storage material or at least partially volatilize from the storage material if the vapor flows through the porous plug. An e-vaping device may include the cartridge.

PURIFICATION OF NICOTINE

The disclosure describes methods for providing nicotine isolates, including: receiving a solution containing nicotine derived from green tobacco biomass of a plant of the Nicotiana species; converting the nicotine to nicotine sulfate; concentrating the resulting nicotine sulfate-containing solution; adjusting the pH of the resulting nicotine sulfate concentrate to a pH of about 9.5 or greater to convert the nicotine sulfate to nicotine in free base form; extracting the resulting basic concentrate with an organic solvent to partition the nicotine into the organic solvent; and distilling the nicotine-containing organic solution to afford a nicotine isolate comprising about 90% or more nicotine by weight.
