Fibers with physical features used for coding
Disclosed are fibers which contains identification fibers. The identification fibers can contain a plurality of distinct features, or taggants, which vary among the fibers and/or along the length of the identification fibers, a fiber band, or yarn. The disclosed embodiments also relate to the method for making and characterizing the fibers. Characterization of the fibers can include identifying distinct features, combinations of distinct features, and number of fibers with various combinations of distinct features and correlating the distinct features to supply chain information. The supply chain information can be used to track the fibers, fiber band, or yarn from manufacturing through intermediaries, conversion to final product, and/or the consumer.
Tobacco smoke filter
A tip for a smoking article such as a cigar is disclosed. The tip comprises a longitudinally extending element comprising a plurality of bicomponent fibers which define at least one channel extending longitudinally of the element.
Fibers with surface markings used for coding
Disclosed are fibers comprising one or more branded fibers which exhibit surface markings in a repeated pattern along the length of the branded fibers. The branded fibers can be incorporated into yarns or fiber bands to represent supply chain information of the yarns, fiber bands, and/or articles made from the yards or fiber bands. In a specific example, branded fibers can be incorporated into an acetate tow band The branded fibers can be recovered from a cigarette filter, the repeated pattern decoded, and supply chain information associated with the acetate tow used to make the cigarette filter, such as manufacturer, customer, ship to location, and even the acetate tow bale, can be obtained.

Aerosol delivery device with downstream flavor cartridge
The present disclosure relates to a flavor delivery device and a cartridge that includes such flavor delivery device. The flavor delivery device includes a flavor substrate that can be formed of a porous material, and further including flavor material included within the flavor substrate. The flavor substrate is surrounded by an outer sleeve which is impermeable to the flavor material. The flavor delivery device may be positioned within a cartridge of an aerosol delivery device where the flavor delivery device is located downstream from a reservoir containing an aerosol precursor composition relative to the mouthend of the cartridge.
HOLLOW/POROUS FIBERS AND APPLICATIONS THEREOF
In one embodiment is provided a polymer blend of poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) and poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), wherein the poly(vinylacetate) is present in an amount ranging between about 20 wt % and about 80 wt %, and poly(acrylic acid) is present in an amount ranging between about 80 wt % and about 20 wt %, based on the total weight of the blend. In another embodiment is provided a fiber produced from this polymer blend, and which has cells therein. In another embodiment is provided a flavorant release material comprising the porous fiber disclosed herein, and one or more flavorants disposed in a longitudinally extending core within the fiber. In another embodiment is provided a polymer fiber membrane containing a hollow, porous fiber formed from the polymer blend disclosed herein. In another embodiment is provided a filter containing the fiber described herein. In another embodiment is provided a process for producing the fibers disclosed herein by addition of the polymers to an extruder or blender, and extruding or melt spinning the mixture into a fiber containing cells therein.
FIBERS COMPRISING AN ALIPHATIC POLYESTER BLEND, AND YARNS, TOWS, AND FABRICS FORMED THEREFROM
The present disclosure provides thermoplastic fibers that comprise homogeneous blends of polylactic acid (PLA) polymers having different degrees of isomeric purity. The fibers exhibit reduced shrinkage and can be formed with increased productivity, specifically in relation to utilizing increased draw ratios. A homogeneous blend can comprise a first PLA polymer and a second PLA polymer, wherein the first PLA polymer has an isomeric purity for the D-isomer or the L-isomer of at least about 99% and the second PLA polymer has an isomeric purity for the D-isomer or the L-isomer of no greater than about 98.5%. The disclosure further encompasses yarns and fabrics formed from the fibers and compositions formed from the yams or fabrics, as well as methods of preparing PLA materials.

PREPARATION METHOD FOR POLYLACTIC ACID FIBER FILTER ROD WITH GOOD TEMPERATURE RESISTANCE
Provided is a preparation method for a polylactic acid fiber filter rod with better temperature resistance, which relates to the technical field of cigarette preparation. The method includes the following steps: separately selecting an up-to-standard polylactic acid raw material having the highest content and having the lowest content of the levo-isomer to prepare a core component and a sheath component; forming sheath-core polylactic acid fiber tows; and carrying out forming on a plurality of sheath-core polylactic acid fiber tows to prepare a polylactic acid filter rod. By means of controlling the proportions and preparation of polylactic acid raw materials, so as to improve the uniformity of an inner-layer structure thereof, and the filter performance of the polylactic acid tows is improved.
