Illumination articles

Illumination articles are described. More specifically, illumination articles that include a wearable device configured for wearing on the head of a wearer, a lightguide and light sources for emitting light into the lightguide are described. The illumination articles allow for wearable devices that uniformly illuminate a working area at high brightness without providing excessive glare to observers.

HELMET SAFETY SYSTEM
20170238642 · 2017-08-24 ·

A helmet safety system for enhancing visibility of a helmet in a hazardous area includes a helmet that may be worn in a hazardous area. A lighting unit is removably coupled to the helmet. The lighting unit may emit light thereby enhancing visibility of the helmet in the hazardous area.

Light-emitting systems for headgear

A light-emitting system is provided which is removably attachable to headgear for personal illumination to enhance visibility of the user to others. The light-emitting system includes a housing that defines a receiving aperture and is configured to surround a portion of the headgear when the light-emitting system is removably attached to the headgear for use. The light-emitting system further includes at least one lens and a plurality of lighting elements coupled to the annular housing which are configured to selectively generate a halo or at least a partial halo of light that radiates outwardly away from the annular housing through the at least one lens to provide enhanced personal illumination.

Light sources in energy management liner of a helmet to illuminate helmet fit system

A helmet including fit system straps with illuminable strips on them or woven into them and one or more light sources positioned adjacent the tops of the fit system straps on the helmet body to emit light toward the illuminable strips. The light sources may be connected directly to the illuminable strips to emit light into an end of the illuminable strips. The light sources may emit light from or near a lower surface of the helmet body toward the illuminable strips.

ADAPTIVE LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR EVEN ILLUMINATION
20220034462 · 2022-02-03 ·

An adaptive lighting system for even illumination is provided. In an embodiment, multiple lamps illuminate light in different areas or zones of the surroundings. These lamps modulate their light output in a known (but imperceptible) pattern. One or more light detectors detects light from the surroundings. Light sourced from each lamp is disambiguated and one or more light time-of-flight delays are calculated for each lamp-light detector pair. Based on these calculated delays, illumination levels of the lights are adjusted so as to produce even illumination.

CONSPICUITY DEVICES
20220264984 · 2022-08-25 ·

The disclosure provides conspicuity devices and methods. A first embodiment includes a glove with at least one elongate lighting device adapted and configured to admit light having an advantageous spectral energy distribution. Additional articles of clothing are provided herein for enhanced conspicuity, such as for emergency workers and athletes.

HANDS-FREE SWITCH SYSTEM
20210405751 · 2021-12-30 ·

A head-worn system has one or more illumination, imaging, communication, and/or other controlled elements electrically connected to a switch element (e.g., a piezo switch) positioned on the head-worn system so as to be overlying an area of a wearer's masseter muscle when worn on the wearer's person. The switch element is configured to be activated responsive to clenching of the wearer's jaw. The one or more controlled elements may be arranged to provide directional lighting/imaging from the point of view of the wearer, for example from the area of the wearer's zygomatic bones, when the head-worn system is worn on the wearer's person.

Illuminating device for sports helmet eye shield
11202481 · 2021-12-21 ·

An Illuminating device for sports helmet eye shield includes a housing, an eye shield attachment, a light-emitting diode (LED) strip, a chipset, a rechargeable battery, and a plurality of control buttons. The housing includes a lateral wall, a rear plate, and a front opening. The lateral wall is perimetrically connected around the rear plate. The front opening is delineated within the lateral wall. The eye shield attachment is connected onto an outer plate of the lateral wall. The LED strip is perimetrically connected to the lateral wall through the front opening. The chipset and the rechargeable battery are internally mounted to the housing. The control buttons are externally connected to an inner plate of the lateral wall. The LED strip, the control buttons, and the chipset are electrically connected to the rechargeable battery. The LED strip and the control buttons are electronically connected to the chipset.

Social distancing devices and methods
11205328 · 2021-12-21 ·

A device for indicating appropriate social distancing includes the ability to project light (in various forms and in a various ways) onto the ground in a manner visible by the user and those around them. A boundary of the projected light can be set to an acceptable social distance and can include different colors to indicated varying social distances for varying levels of trusted individuals. Proximity sensors set to appropriate distancing requirements, along with the varying levels of trust can be implemented into multiple devices being used in a group setting.

SUSPENSION UNIT FOR A HELMET

A suspension unit is provided which is removably coupleable to a helmet shell to enhance user safety and helmet functionality. The suspension unit includes: a suspension assembly configured to interface with a suspension attachment scheme of the helmet shell; one or more sensors carried by the suspension assembly and arranged to obtain biometric, environmental, location, motion, impact and/or other data; and a control system carried by the suspension assembly, the control system including at least a power source and a communication module, and being operatively coupled to the one or more sensors to obtain the biometric, environmental, location, motion, impact and/or other data and to transmit, via the communication module, a data signal to a computing device or network based at least in part on said data from which to enhance user safety and helmet functionality.
