The lighting and communication system includes a vehicle system and a helmet system. The vehicle system attached to a handle of the vehicle, the vehicle system includes a joystick attached to the frame of the vehicle for allowing the rider to provide directional signals, a first communication unit configured in the joystick for communicating directional signals with the helmet over the communication network, and a first battery configured to power the joystick and the first communication unit. The helmet system attached to the helmet for communicating with the vehicle system. The helmet system includes a second communication unit attached to the helmet to receive the directional commands from the joystick via the first communication unit, a microprocessor attached to the helmet to process the directional commands received by the second communication unit from the first communication unit, wherein the second communication unit communicates the processed signals over the communication network, plurality of LED lights configured on the helmet to indicate movement of the vehicle based upon the movement of the joystick initiated by the rider, and a second battery configured in the helmet to power the plurality of LED lights, the second communication unit and the microprocessor. The microprocessor controls the operation of the LED lights, wherein the LED lights illuminate based on the directional signals from the joystick to reflect movement of the vehicle.
Configurable user tracking and site safety
A configurable site safety system includes a plurality of wearable signaling devices, each with an array of independently addressable lighting elements, a location receiver and one or more communication interfaces. The system may also include a site safety server to track location information received from at least each of the signaling devices, and to cause, based on a subset of the plurality of signaling devices satisfying defined geographical, event-based or other defined criteria, the lighting array of each of the subset of signaling devices to display a defined lighting scheme.
Apparatus for improving the noticeability of a hat
An apparatus is presented for improving the noticeability of a hat. The apparatus includes a light source configured to produce light upon receiving electrical energy. The apparatus also includes a mount coupled to the light source and configured to selectively attach to and detach from the hat. The mount, when attached to the hat, orients the light source to project light away from an exterior surface of the hat into an ambient environment of the hat. The exterior surface includes at least one of a left-side exterior surface and a right-side exterior surface. The apparatus additionally includes a battery receptacle electrically-coupled to the light source and having electrical contacts for coupling to one or more batteries. Hats having improved noticeability and methods for improving the noticeability of a hat are also presented.
IMPROVED SIGNALING DEVICE
A signaling device intended to be worn by a moving user such as a rider of a two-wheel vehicle providing improved visibility on the part of other road users through the provision of a light source at a greater height than is conventional for such vehicles comprises an accelerometer taking measurements along three orthogonal axes, a rechargeable battery pack, a first light source, wireless communication means for transmitting an alert signal and a control unit which activates the light source above a particular deceleration or braking threshold, activates the communication means at a higher deceleration or accident threshold and activates the communication means when a number of switchovers between acceleration and deceleration is equal to or higher than a third threshold.
Safety helmet
A safety helmet for enhancing visibility to road users. The safety helmet has a plurality of lights which are operatively connected to a power supply; at least one motion sensor which detects a behavioural characteristic of the cyclist and provides input signals to a controller, the controller operates in accordance with an algorithm whereby the signals are processed to determine appropriate timing of activation of the lights, in dependence upon the behavioural characteristic detected; and wherein switching signals from the controller switch on the lights to indicate actual or intended direction of travel.
Protective sports helmet
The present helmet invention combines lightweight, impact absorption materials, force distribution structures, and means for affixing a facemask and straps to the helmet for reducing the risk of head injury. The internal construction of the helmet uses the combination of three or more elliptically shaped rings, each referred to as a halo ring. The halo rings are rigidly affixed to u-shaped torsion bars, and together form a cage. The cage covers areas of the head and skull vulnerable to injury, operating to disperse and thereby dissipate external impacts at any point where forces on the helmet's external surface are transferred to the ovoid-like cage.
Indicating hazardous exposure in a supplied air respirator system
An exposure-indicating supplied air respirator system comprises a head top, a clean air supply source and a portable personal communication hub. The head top comprises a visor that is sized to fit over at least a user's nose and mouth, a position sensor secured to the head top, and a head top communication module. The clean air supply source is connected to the head top that supplies clean air to the interior of the head top. The position sensor detects whether the visor is in a closed position or in an open position and the head top communication module communicates the visor position to the personal communication hub. If the personal communication hub receives a signal indicating the presence of a hazard, and if the visor is in an open position, an alert is generated.
VEHICLE SIGNAL AND LIGHTING SYSTEM CONFIGURABLE TO VARIOUS ARTICLES AND APPAREL
Vehicle signaling configurable to various articles and apparel is provided. An example system allows a user to dynamically assign vehicle signals for activating brake lights, turn signals, running lights, headlights, police emergency lights, and so forth, to user-selected lights built into articles and apparel. Vehicle signals may be wirelessly assigned to lights on articles and apparel through a smart phone application, or other portable software means. The system forms a self-managing wireless network, to which the user can add any number of additional illuminated articles and pieces of illuminated apparel, which are automatically sensed and integrated. An example helmet spoiler, for example, has a receiver for processing a wireless signal from a vehicle, to actuate brake lights, turn signals, headlights, and the like on the spoiler itself. In a police implementation, a helmet actuates police flashers on the helmet based on an assigned wireless signal from a police vehicle.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR A SAFETY BEACON FOR A WELDING PROTECTION DEVICE
A protection device is disclosed, where the protection device comprises an eye protection shield, a light beacon, and a control circuitry to control the light beacon.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REPLICATING VEHICULAR ILLUMINATION
Systems and methods for replicating vehicular illumination are disclosed. According to an aspect, a system includes a detector configured to sense light emitted by a host light of a host vehicle for detecting a lighting state of the host light. The system also includes a communications system configured to communicate the detected lighting state between the host light and the remote light. Further, the system includes a remote light being located on one of the host vehicle and an operator of the host vehicle and configured to replicate the lighting state of the host light.
