A helmet safety system comprises a first set of sensors coupled to a helmet, a second set of sensors coupled to a vehicle, and one or more microcontrollers coupled to the first and second sets of sensors. The one or more microcontrollers can receive sensor data from the first and second sets of sensors and determine, based on the sensor data, that a user is using the bicycle but not wearing the helmet. Responsive to determining that the user is using the bicycle without wearing the helmet, the one or more microcontrollers perform remedial actions, such as disabling or limiting a functionality of the bicycle, emitting an alarm or alert, sending a notification to a first device of the user reminding the user to wear the helmet, and sending a notification to a second device indicating that the user is using the bicycle without wearing the helmet.

A helmet for tracking compliance information associated with a rider is disclosed. The helmet comprising a Global Positioning System (GPS) configured to trace a complete path covered by the rider. Further, the helmet comprises a set of biometric sensor configured to capture biometric sample of the rider at regular intervals, when the rider is in motion. Furthermore, the helmet comprises a data processing platform. The data processing platform maintains a database configured to store a profile data of the rider such as biometric information and identity profile of the rider. The data processing platform enables a biometric data analysis module configured to classify the complete path into a compliant path and a non-compliant path by analyzing the biometric information and biometric samples captured from the rider. Further, the data processing platform enables a data transmission module to transmit the compliant path and the non compliant path to a remote server.

An impact sensing system includes a first impact sensor having a flexible dielectric layer, a first printed electrode on a first side of the layer, and a second printed electrode on a second side of the layer. The second printed electrode overlies and is moveable toward and away from the first electrode by deformation of the flexible dielectric layer. Further, the layer maintains a capacitance between to the first electrode and the second electrode that changes with a movement of the second electrode toward or away from the first electrode. The system further includes a first readout circuit electronically coupled with the first and second electrodes to measure a change in the capacitance and output a corresponding voltage.

The present disclosure includes a retrofit sensor module for use with a protective head top with a helmet and a visor. The sensor module includes a sensor housing and an attachment mechanism. The sensor housing encloses a head presence sensor to sense when the protective head top is being worn. The sensor housing also encloses a position sensor to sense the position of the visor relative to the helmet. The retrofit sensor module further comprises an attachment mechanism secured to the housing. The attachment mechanism mates with a first hinge component of a hinge assembly in the protective head top to removably install the sensor module into the protective head top, wherein the hinge assembly allows the visor to move relative to the helmet.

The present invention is directed to a helmet wearing determination system including a imaging means that is installed in a predetermined position and images a two-wheel vehicle that travels on a road; and a helmet wearing determination means that processes an image imaged by the imaging means, estimates a rider head region corresponding to a head of a person who rides on the two-wheel vehicle that travels on the road, compares image characteristics of the rider head region with image characteristics according to the head at a time when a helmet is worn or/and at a time when a helmet is not worn, and determines whether or not the rider wears the helmet.

On human powered vehicles mechanical resistance may limit operation.
