A helmet fit system includes a harness, a first anchor and a second anchor secured to a helmet, a tensioning mechanism, and a cable passing from the mechanism, around the first anchor, through the harness, and around the second anchor. The tensioning mechanism is not secured to any portion of the harness. The harness may define a channel, the cable passing through the channel. The tensioning mechanism is mounted to the outer surface of a helmet on the first side of a plane of symmetry of the helmet such that the cable passes through the helmet.

The present invention provides a helmet comprising a main body having a concave interior for receiving a user's head, a head strap coupled to the body, and an adjustment mechanism coupled to the head strap. The head strap is positioned in a loop that spans at least 1.5 wraps around the interior of the main body. Preferably, the head strap is fully recessed into the concave interior of the main body. The head strap can include an occipital pad and a flexible belt (e.g., two flexible belts) secured to the occipital pad and engaged with the adjustment mechanism. Preferably, at least a portion of the flexible belt is spaced rearward from the occipital pad. The helmet can further include a belt guide (e.g., two side belt guides and a front belt guide) secured to the main body and adapted to allow the head strap to slide through the belt guide.

The disclosure provides a ballistic helmet and a method of assembling a ballistic helmet that includes a helmet shell and a harness connected to the helmet shell. The helmet shell includes a front portion and a rear portion. The harness includes a nape pad, a tensioner disposed on the nape pad, a plurality of securement straps, and a tension cable. The plurality of securement straps are connected to the nape pad and are configured to fasten to the rear portion of the helmet shell. The tension cable is selectively adjustable by the tensioner and is configured to fasten to the front portion of the helmet shell.

A head top has a frame for mounting on a user's head. The frame has a viewing opening for a user to see out of the frame. A shield is mounted to the frame, and can be moved between a open and closed positions. A pivot arm connects the shield to the frame and is mounted to the inside of both the frame and shield to avoid exposure. An outer mount and inner mount can also be provided to automatically adjust the width of the head top. The fixing rod movably extends between the body and the elastic arm. When the fixing rod is arranged between the second connecting segment and the body, the pawl is fixed to the ratchet teeth, so that the ratchet wheel assembly is positioned on the base. When the fixing rod is arranged between the first connecting segment and the body, the ratchet wheel assembly may rotate relative to the base.

A replacement rear strap assembly is provided for use on a helmet that has a headgear assembly. The headgear assembly has a front strap, a top strap, a pair of hubs between the front strap and top strap, and a pair of connection bosses extending from the pair of hubs. The replacement rear strap assembly includes a pair of adapter rings and a replacement strap extending between the pair of adapter rings. In some embodiments, each of the pair of adapter rings includes an adapter ring aperture. In some embodiments, each of the adapter ring apertures is sized and configured to be placed over a corresponding one of the pair of connection bosses.

A cycling helmet includes an outer shell and a closed cell foam layer adjacent to the outer shell. The cycling helmet also includes an inner liner adjacent to the closed cell foam layer. The cycling helmet further includes an insert of energy absorbing material adjacent to the inner liner.
