A goalie helmet has a head protective outer shell which is configured to circumscribe the head of a goalie. The shell has an interior space in which a floating head framing member is located for cradling and supporting the head of the goalie. The head framing member is located in spaced relation to and a given distance from the back or rear section of the shell of the helmet. Attachment devices, such as straps, connect the head framing member to the helmet in spaced relation to and a distance away from the rear section. The helmet also includes a unique chin cup support bracket located on its lower front section. A specifically designed chin cup is configured to be removeably positioned and secured onto the bracket. The chin cup can simply and easily be replaced on the bracket when it becomes worn.

LACROSSE HELMET

A lacrosse helmet with a plastic shell has a full jaw protector attached to the shell at a right side of the shell and at a left side of the shell, extending forwardly from the shell and extending continuously from the right side of the shell to the left side of the shell and adapted to cover and protect a lower jaw of the wearer. A faceguard made of a grid of horizontal wire members, vertical wire members, and a bottom wire member is removably attached to both the shell and the full jaw protector by loop straps. T-intersections are formed by the bottom wire member and certain of the vertical wire members, adjacent to and above the full jaw protector and forward of loop straps connecting the faceguard to the jaw protector. The loop straps act as stops against rearward movement of the vertical wire members thereby resisting the tendency of the faceguard to slide and twist when struck with blows during sports play.

A protective football helmet is provided having a one-piece molded shell with an impact attenuation system. This system includes an impact attenuation member formed in an extent of the front shell portion by removing material from the front portion. The impact attenuation member is purposely engineered to change how the front portion responds to an impact force applied substantially normal to the front portion as compared to how other portions of the shell respond to that impact force. In one version, the impact attenuation member is a cantilevered segment formed in the front portion of the shell.

A protective helmet comprising at least one compression spring that connects one or more inner shells to an outer shell. Once the multiple shells are connected, they provide a multiple layer protection system that absorbs and reflects energy by compressing. The compression springs also comprise a threaded spring cap that allows for easy connecting and disconnecting between the compression springs and the shells. The threaded spring cap allows the springs to be exchange within the multilayered shell, for springs of a different compression rate, size, or material if desired; which would allow customization of the protection level provided by the protective helmet.
