Helmet to reduce traumatic brain injuries
11234475 · 2022-02-01 ·

A protective helmet includes a plurality of fluid filled bladders, impact sensors, valves, and pumps wherein the helmet absorbs energy from an impact to protect a person wearing the helmet from traumatic brain injury. The bladders expel fluid in response to a triggering event such as energy from an impact detected as a pressure spike event and/or detected as an acceleration event. A selected bladder may expel fluid to other bladders, to a reservoir, to the environment outside of the protective helmet, or combinations thereof. In embodiments where the bladders need additional fluid after an impact, one or more pumps may refill selected deflated bladders. When a bladder is underinflated, an indicator light may emit light on an outer surface of the protective helmet to warn that the bladder is not yet ready to be placed in operation to absorb another impact.

A helmet includes a shell having an interior surface and a padding configured to provide progressive impact resistance. The padding includes a first padding layer and a second padding layer. The first padding layer has a first side configured to conform to the interior surface of the shell and an opposing second side that defines a plurality of first continuous extensions arranged in a spaced configuration defining a plurality of first recesses therebetween. The second padding layer has a third side configured to conform to a head of a wearer of the helmet and an opposing fourth side that defines a plurality of second continuous extensions arranged in a spaced configuration defining a plurality of second recesses therebetween.

SHOCK ABSORBING SYSTEM

A shock absorbing helmet includes an outer shell, an inner shock absorbing liner attached to the outer shell, and multiple compressible balls coupled with the outer shell and/or the shock absorbing liner in such a way that the compressible balls are free to move, relative to the outer shell and the shock absorbing liner, when the helmet is impacted by an object. A method of manufacturing a shock absorbing helmet involves forming an outer shell of the helmet, forming a shock absorbing liner of the helmet, attaching multiple compressible balls to the outer shell and/or the shock absorbing liner in such a way that the compressible balls are free to move, relative to the outer shell and the shock absorbing liner, when the helmet is impacted by an object, and attaching the outer shell to the shock absorbing liner.

The first shell section is configured to extend about a head of the user, and include a first central portion, a first strap and a second strap that extend from the first shell section. The first central portion includes a first protective layer and a second protective layer disposed atop the first protective layer. The second shell section is configured to extend about a jaw of the user, and include a second central portion, a third strap and a fourth strap that extend from the second shell section. The third shell section is connected to the first shell section by the first strap and the third strap, and the fourth shell section is connected to the second shell section by the second strap and the fourth strap.

SPORT HELMET

A sport helmet for protecting a head of a wearer, such as a hockey, lacrosse or football player. The sport helmet comprises an outer shell comprising an internal side and an external side. The sport helmet also comprises an inner pad mounted to the internal side of the outer shell for absorbing shocks when the sport helmet is impacted. The inner pad comprises a core of polymeric cellular material and a covering on the core of polymeric cellular material. The core of polymeric cellular material may comprise a body of expanded polymeric microspheres.

IMPACT ABSORBING HARNESS FOR INDUSTRIAL SAFETY HELMET
20170251745 · 2017-09-07 ·

It is a typical harness conformed by a hard outer shell (1) that usually projects a front visor (2), and an optional crown with ventilation ports (3), enclosed in an inner harness (A) that lays on the wearer's head, keeping a considerable clearance in respect of the inner face of the shell (1). The helmet is put on the wearer's head and is positioned using an adjustable annular headband (4). The harness is a crowned thin structure conformed by curved portions of different width and equal thickness, which form stretching deformation portions based on the energy transferred during an impact. Thanks to the sizing of the curved portions that form the crowned structure, stretching deformation occurs at temperatures ranging from −18° C. to 50° C. The crowned structure is shaped from an upper elliptic portion (5) that delimits a vast upper and central opening (6) that is substantially elliptic, from which radial portions extend (7 and 8) until reaching a lower adjustable annular headband. This upper elliptic portion (5) presents two diametrically opposed stretched openings (9 and 10), through which it is subdivided in two internal curved portions of lesser width (11 and 12), opposed to the respective external curved portions, which are wider (13) and (14).

ANTIVIRUS HELMET

Antivirus helmets and techniques to manufacture the antivirus helmets are provided. The antivirus helmets can protect subjects from viruses, bacteria, or other types of pathogens. The antivirus helmets can be modular and can isolate a subject wearing the antivirus helmets from the surrounding environment. The antivirus helmets can be deformable and can be worn during extended periods while protecting a subject wearing the antivirus helmet and other subjects in the environment surrounding the subject.

FILTERED PROTECTIVE MASK FOR A HELMET
20210392989 · 2021-12-23 ·

A protective face mask has a face shield arranged to fully span a face area of the user while being secured relative to a protective helmet worn by the user. The face mask has a central viewing portion formed of a transparent material that is rigid so as to resist deformation when impacted. One or more breathing openings are formed in the face shield so as to be arranged to receive breathing air when inhaling and/or exhaling. A control structure is supported on the face shield in operative association with each breathing opening in non-interference with the central viewing portion of the face shield in which the control structure is one of (i) a filter member spanning across the breathing opening, or (ii) a valve member operable between open and closed positions so as to only allow flow through the breathing opening in one direction.

Ventilated helmet preventing deposition of fog on a protective eyewear, and a method and use of the same

A ventilated helmet is provided. The helmet includes a shell defining a cavity, the shell having a front section provided with an opening to allow the wearer to see. The helmet also includes a transparent shield adapted having an inner surface and being adapted to substantially close the opening. Finally, the helmet includes a ventilation system having an evacuation subsystem adapted to create an evacuation airflow to evacuate humid air within the cavity to a surrounding environment. The ventilation system further has a pressurizing subsystem adapted to admit a pressurizing airflow within the cavity to create a high-pressure zone and a low-pressure zone within the cavity, wherein when in use, the wearer exhales air within the low-pressure zone, and wherein the high-pressure zone prevents air within the cavity from travelling from the low-pressure zone to the high-pressure zone. A method of evacuating humid air from the cavity is also provided.
