SOLE CONTACT BODY
20240381974 · 2024-11-21 ·

The present invention provides a sole contact body for footwear such as a shoe, an athletic shoe, or a sandal. The sole contact body comprises a raised part which is configured to contact each of the second, third and fourth toes to lift the metatarsophalangeal and proximal interphalangeal joint positions thereof, and which is configured to fit between the first and fifth toes so as not to lift the first and fifth toes throughout the entire lengths thereof. The raised part is configured to have a first toe-side stepped surface that touches the side of the first toe closer to the tip of the first toe than the metatarsophalangeal joint position thereof, and a fifth toe-side stepped surface that touches the side of the fifth toe closer to the tip of the fifth toe than the metatarsophalangeal joint position thereof.

Method to prevent irritation of deformed toes of a patient using an adjustable toe protector

A method to prevent irritation of deformed toes of a patient uses an adjustable toe protector formed from a loop of a tubular material with a pile layer on the inside where the length of the loop is adjustable, and pads the top the toes with a double thickness of the material so that shoe pressure straightens the toe out while a crest pad formed by a resilient insert into the tubular material beneath the toe lifts the toes.

Self-Sustaining Piezoelectric Assembly

A method of providing electrical stimulation to the sole of a patient's foot is disclosed. An assembly is disclosed that comprises a non-conductive mat having an aperture and a piezoelectric device positioned to fill at least a portion of the aperture. A flexible conductive material is positioned to be in electrical contact with a first and a second primary surface of the piezoelectric device, and with the surface of the skin, providing an electric current to the skin when the piezoelectric is mechanically compressed.

Contoured peg insole

A peg insole including an integrally molded unitary foam body covered. The foam body may be covered with a cover layer, such as a stretchable fabric, on a top surface of the foam body opposite the pegs. The foam body is includes a base layer with a plurality of pegs protruding therefrom. The foam body may include a contoured shaped to comfortably fit a patient's foot including, for example, a medial support portion, a lateral support portion, and a heel cup. The peg insole may be used, for example, in a medical shoe. Also provided is a method for forming the peg insole.

Rolled Inner Seam Strap Design for Footwear to Reduce Strap-Induced Pressure on Dorsal Foot Aspect
20250031799 · 2025-01-30 ·

The invention presents a rolled inner seam strap (RIS) design for open-toe footwear, like flip-flops, to address foot ulcers caused by straps. Existing designs overlook the impact of strap-induced pressure on the dorsal foot, leaving a research gap. The RIS design aims to minimize pressure and friction on the dorsal foot, particularly at the toehold area where ulcers may occur. By increasing contact area with the skin and reducing strap contact, it redistributes pressure, preventing tissue damage. A study comparing RIS to traditional straps showed significantly lower dorsal foot pressure with RIS. The RIS design offers a practical and cost-effective solution to reduce strap-induced pressure and prevent foot ulcers, particularly in resource-limited settings with limited foot care.

Intelligent shoe for the blind

Disclosed is an intelligent shoe for the blind, which includes a sole and an upper. At least a portion of the sole is provided with multiple pressure sensors for generating pressure sensing signals when the sole is in contact with raised ground surface. The intelligent shoe further includes a storage chip, used to pre-store a signal characteristic of pressure sensing signals generated when the sole is in contact with a blind sidewalk, and a ata processing chip electrically connected to the multiple pressure sensors and the storage chip, used to compare a signal characteristic of pressure sensing signals from the pressure sensors with the pre-stored signal characteristic, and determine that the sole deviates from the blind sidewalk and send a prompt signal in the case that the signal characteristic of the pressure sensing signals from the pressure sensors is inconsistent with the pre-stored signal characteristic.

Device and methods of treating neurological disorders

Provided are methods of treating or improving neurological conditions and/or outcomes thereof in a subject afflicted with a neurological condition. The methods include placement of a device comprising at least two calibrated, differential disturbances or protuberances under the subject's foot.
