A control method for a fuel cell system includes: acquiring a poisoning rate of an electrode catalyst of a fuel cell; performing a potential maintaining operation of maintaining a potential of the fuel cell in a first potential range when the poisoning rate of the electrode catalyst is greater than a prescribed value α; and performing a potential changing operation of repeating a cycle in which the potential of the fuel cell is changed between an upper-limit potential and a lower-limit potential of a second potential range which is higher than the first potential range after the potential maintaining operation has been performed.
Systems and methods for distributed fault management in fuel cell systems
A distributed fault management system includes at least one sensor associated with a fuel cell system and at least one first fault management computing device coupled to the at least one sensor. The at least one first fault management computing device is configured to receive data associated with a first fault condition. The at least one first fault management computing device is further configured to generate a resolution to the first fault condition and transmit at least one resolution command signal to at least one second fault management computing device. The at least one resolution command signal configures the at least one second fault management computing device to use the resolution to resolve a second fault condition in a similar manner.
Systems and methods for distributed fault management in fuel cell systems
A distributed fault management system includes at least one sensor associated with a fuel cell system and at least one first fault management computing device coupled to the at least one sensor. The at least one first fault management computing device is configured to receive data associated with a first fault condition. The at least one first fault management computing device is further configured to generate a resolution to the first fault condition and transmit at least one resolution command signal to at least one second fault management computing device. The at least one resolution command signal configures the at least one second fault management computing device to use the resolution to resolve a second fault condition in a similar manner.

A fuel cell system includes a fuel cell, an anode gas supply system, an anode gas circulatory system, a cathode gas supply-discharge system, a gas-liquid discharge passage, a gas-liquid discharge valve configured to open and close the gas-liquid discharge passage, a flow-rate acquisition portion, and a controlling portion. After the controlling portion instructs the gas-liquid discharge valve to be opened, the controlling portion executes a normal-abnormality determination such that, when a discharge-gas flow rate of anode gas is a predetermined normal reference value or more, the controlling portion determines that the gas-liquid discharge valve is opened normally, and when the discharge-gas flow rate is lower than the normal reference value, the controlling portion determines that the gas-liquid discharge valve is not opened normally.

FUEL CELL SYSTEM CONTAINING CATALYST BASED FUEL CONTAMINATION SENSOR AND METHOD OF OPERATING THEREOF
A method for operating a fuel cell system is provided. The method includes controlling a provision of fuel to the fuel cell system operating in a steady-state mode. The catalyst sensor is operated by providing a portion of the fuel and anode exhaust generated by the system to the catalyst sensor. Further, a change in an outlet temperature of the catalyst sensor is detected. Thereafter, it is determined whether a reformation catalyst of the catalyst sensor is poisoned by contaminants in the fuel based on the detected change in the outlet temperature.
Method of detecting degradation of membrane electrode assembly of fuel cell
A method of detecting degradation of a membrane electrode assembly of a fuel cell is provided. In the method, it is possible to detect degradation (cross leakage) of the fuel cell. In the measurement step, the pressure drop value of the pressure of the fuel gas which decreases in the power generation state after discharging of the predetermined amount of the fuel gas, in each predetermined period of time is measured a plurality of times. Thereafter, in the determination step, it is determined that the membrane electrode assembly has been degraded in the case where the minimum pressure drop value, among a plurality of pressure measurement values, exceeds a threshold value.

A method of detecting degradation of a membrane electrode assembly of a fuel cell is provided. In the method, it is possible to detect degradation (cross leakage) of the fuel cell. In the measurement step, the pressure drop value of the pressure of the fuel gas which decreases in the power generation state after discharging of the predetermined amount of the fuel gas, in each predetermined period of time is measured a plurality of times. Thereafter, in the determination step, it is determined that the membrane electrode assembly has been degraded in the case where the minimum pressure drop value, among a plurality of pressure measurement values, exceeds a threshold value.

FUEL CELL STACK MODULE FAULT DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A stack module fault detection system, comprising an insulation resistance tester; a stack module, consisting of a plurality of stacks; and a plurality of switch groups, wherein each switch group comprises a first switch and a second switch, each switch group is respectively connected with a stack, the first end of the first switch is connected with the positive electrode of the stack, and the first end of the second switch is connected with the negative electrode of the stack; the second end of the first switch is connected with the positive electrode of the insulation resistance tester, and the second end of the second switch is connected with the negative electrode of the insulation resistance tester. A controller connected with the control end of the switch group controls the opening and closing of the switch group. The insulation resistance tester detects the insulation resistance of each stack in turn and sends the insulation resistance to the controller to monitor the insulation fault in the stack module. Under the condition of not disassembling the stack module, the insulation resistance of each stack is detected, and the stack with insulation fault can be located, so that the operation of fault positioning is simplified.
