Thermal runaway detection system for batteries within enclosures
A battery thermal runaway detection sensor system for use within a battery enclosure housing one or more batteries. The system has at least one gas sensor for detecting a venting condition of a battery cell of hydrogen, carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide, and providing a sensed output in real time. A microcontroller determines power management and signal conditioned output on the concentration of specific battery venting gases based on the sensed output from said at least one gas sensor.

A battery of the present disclosure includes a first solid-state battery cell and a buffer layer. The first solid-state battery cell includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a solid electrolyte layer located between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The positive electrode or the negative electrode has a current collector. The buffer layer is in contact with a face of the current collector opposite to the solid electrolyte layer. The buffer layer includes a thermally expandable material and a conductive resin.

A positive electrode sheet containing a high-safety heat-sensitive coating and a lithium-ion battery containing the positive electrode sheet are provided. The heat-sensitive coating includes a first conductive agent, a first binder, heat-sensitive polymer microspheres and an auxiliary agent, and has a conductive property at normal temperature and also has advantages of increasing a contact area between an active material and a current collector, improving the conductivity, and effectively reducing the polarization of battery and the like; when the use temperature of the positive electrode sheet reaches 120° C. and above, the heat-sensitive polymer microspheres will melt to form a plurality of continuous electron blocking layers, current blocking occurs in the coating, an internal blocking forms inside the battery, thereby preventing the occurrence of further thermal runaway of lithium-ion battery.

Disclosed are an integrated high-temperature decomposable connector and a lithium ion battery containing the same. The integrated high-temperature decomposable connector includes a connecting plate and supporting columns fixedly arranged on one side of the connecting plate at intervals, clamping columns are fixedly connected to the top ends of the supporting columns, and an insertion recess is formed between adjacent clamping columns; the top end surface of the clamping column and the inner sidewall of the insertion recess are each provided with a conductive layer, the clamping column is made of a high-temperature decomposable material, and the high-temperature decomposable material is formed by mixing a thermosensitive resin and a functional, additive. The conductive layer may be electrically connected to cell tabs, and the thermosensitive resin may be automatically decomposed while the temperature of cells is too high, so that the safety performance of the battery is greatly improved.
