An antenna tuning assembly is disclosed, including: a substrate; an input path on the substrate, for receiving control signals; a tuning network on the substrate, including an impedance circuit with a tunable impedance and at least one tuner connecting with the impedance circuit and the input path for generating an corresponding impedance in response to the control signals; an output path connecting with the tuning network on the substrate, for coupling to an external antenna according to the corresponding impedance.

A diversity antenna applied in a mobile terminal and a mobile terminal are provided. The mobile terminal includes a metal housing and the metal housing includes a housing body and a receiving region located over the housing body, and the receiving region is a frame structure in which a side is provided with a slit. The diversity antenna includes a feed point, a first ground point and a second ground point, and the feed point, the first ground point and the second ground point are all arranged on the housing body, and a distance between the feed point and the slit is 3 mm to 15 mm. The diversity antenna further includes a capacitive element connected to the frame structure and arranged in series with the feed point, and a switch arranged in series with the first ground point.

Hand grip sensor for external chassis antenna

A method and system for detecting whether the position of a user's hand gripping a mobile communication device chassis affects an external antenna is provided. A sectioned metal band about a periphery of a mobile communication device has a radiating antenna in at least one metal section. The radiating antenna section is bounded on both sides by electrically floating metal sections. Each of the electrically floating metal sections is bounded on the side distal from the antenna section by a ground metal section. Each metal section separated from an adjacent metal section by an insulating gap. Embodiments measure a differential capacitance between the antenna section and the floating metal section and measure a single and capacitance between the floating metal section and the grounded section to determine whether a user's hand is bridging one or more of the insulating gaps.

The electronic device may further include a processor configured to vary the impedance of the adjusting circuit based on a signal to be output through the antenna, and output the signal through the antenna, with the impedance of the adjusting circuit being varied.

The antenna and proximity sensors can be implemented in a laptop computer, and proximity sensor loading states are surveyed and used to determine when and to what degree to alter the reactance at the junction of or along the parasitic element to optimize the frequency response and/or the impedance properties of the antenna system. An algorithm or look-up table is configured to relate proximity sensor loading states to reactance required to alter antenna characteristics.

An apparatus and associated method are provided involving a housing having a periphery configured to operate as a second antenna, a third antenna, and a fourth antenna. The periphery includes a top wall having a first slot formed therein, a first side wall having a second slot formed therein, and a second side wall having a third slot formed therein. The top wall is arranged between the first side wall and the second side wall, and a top portion of the periphery is defined between the second slot and the third slot. The top portion is divided into a first top side portion and a second top side portion via the first slot. Further, the first top side portion operates as the second antenna, and the second top side portion operates as both the third antenna and the fourth antenna.
