METHOD FOR IMPROVING ANTENNA MATCHING AND NODE
A method improves antenna matching for a node, in particular a sensor apparatus and/or actuator apparatus, of a communications network. The node is capable of radio communication and has a radio module equipped with an antenna and a transmit path and/or receive path for radio signals to be emitted and/or received. The node has a power supply apparatus, which is preferably energy self-sufficient, in particular a battery. The antenna has an impedance and in the receive situation and/or in the transmit situation in the case of adjustable matchings, preferably by use of adjustable matching networks, the signal to noise ratio associated with each matching is estimated, and a matching is selected from the different matchings for the receive mode and/or the transmit mode.

Transceiver front-end with receiver branch matching network including integrated electrostatic discharge protection
Disclosed are embodiments of a transceiver front-end configured for a reduced noise figure (NF). Each of the embodiments includes an antenna, a transmitter branch and a receiver branch all connected to an input/output pad. The transmitter branch is coupled to the input/output pad (and thereby the antenna) by an impedance transformer. Only the receiver branch is selectively electrically connected to the input/output pad (and thereby the antenna) by a switch. A common matching network between the input/output pad and the switch provides both impedance matching and electrostatic discharge protection for the switch and the low noise amplifier, thereby reducing NF. Specific embodiments are disclosed for integration into specific technologies (e.g., fully depleted silicon-on-insulator (FDSOI) technology and fin-type field effect transistor (finFET) technology).

Antenna tuning and resonance adjustment system and method
An antenna tuner includes a control core, a switch logic coupled to the control core, the switch logic comprising a variable off-capacitance, and an electrical coupling coupled to the switch logic, the electrical coupling configured to connect the switch logic to an antenna system.
Surface mount antenna elements for use in an antenna array
An antenna element comprises one or more directors, a resonator, and a three dimensional ground assembly. Parts of the antenna element are arranged on three metal layers. A top layer has an unconnected metal bar which forms a beam director, a resonator and a top part of the ground assembly. The resonator is an integral piece substantially in the form of a loop connected to a feed line and a feed line terminal ending. The feed line terminal ending serves as the ground plane for the feed line as well as providing impedance matching from the external transceiver circuit to the resonator. The ground assembly includes a top layer ground connected to a plurality of metallized half cylindrical hole channels (or metallized via holes) which connect to a ground terminal in a bottom layer.
