Coated electrical connector bands and pressure compensation assemblies for downhole electrical disconnect tools

Electrically insulated connector bands for Downhole Electrical Disconnect Tools provide power and/or data communication downhole are made from metal having sufficient strength and corrosion resistance to eliminate the need of any vacuum and sealed pressure compensation assembly while being exposed to wellbore fluids. The electrical insulation is achieved by having portions of the connector bands coated with electrically insulating material. An uncoated section of each connector band will provide the electrical path between the male and female mandrels.

An electronic control unit includes a casing and a cover which are mutually bonded. A drive circuit board which drives a motor unit is fixed to the cover and, on the other hand, a control circuit board which controls the drive circuit board is fixed to the casing. An electrical connector which supplies an electric power to each board and a motor unit is attached on an opening section of the casing. First power supply terminals of this electrical connector and the motor unit and second power supply terminals of the drive circuit board are directly electrically connected by a bonding of both of casing and the cover.

A pin-like printed circuit board connector is at least slightly reversibly deformable and has a pin axis. The printed circuit board connector has at least a first slit which starts at the insertion end and runs through the pin axis towards the printed circuit board connection region and by means of which at least two segments pointing in the insertion direction are formed. In particular, the printed circuit board connector can additionally have a second such slit which intersects the first slit in the pin axis, in particular at right angles, forming even four segments pointing in the insertion direction.

A printed circuit board assembly has a first printed circuit board with first and second surfaces, a plurality of electrical contact pins which pass through the first printed circuit board, wherein first ends of the contact pins are electrically contacted on the second surface by soldered elevations, and with first electrical contacts which are arranged on the second surface; and a second printed circuit board with first and second surfaces in which a plurality of blind holes are formed for receiving the first ends of the contact pins, wherein the second printed circuit board has second electrical contacts on the second surface, and the second surfaces of the first printed circuit board and the second printed circuit board are joined together such that the contact pins reach into the blind holes such that the first electrical contacts electrically contact the second electrical contacts.

Embodiments of the invention include LED lighting systems and methods. For example, in some embodiments, an LED lighting system is included. The LED lighting system can include a flexible layered circuit structure that can include a top thermally conductive layer, a middle electrically insulating layer, a bottom thermally conductive layer, and a plurality of light emitting diodes mounted on the top layer. The LED lighting system can further include a housing substrate and a mounting structure. The mounting structure can be configured to suspend the layered circuit structure above the housing substrate with an air gap disposed in between the bottom thermally conductive layer of the flexible layered circuit structure and the housing substrate. The distance between the layered circuit structure and the support layer can be at least about 0.5 mm. Other embodiments are also included herein.
