ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLING THE SAME

An electrical connector comprises a housing and a terminal module. The housing has a top portion, a bottom portion and two side portions connecting the top portion and the bottom portion. The top portion, the bottom portion and the two side portions form an accommodating chamber and the terminal module is accommodated in the accommodating chamber. The two side portions have positioning posts preventing horizontal displacement of the housing relative to the terminal module, and the top portion and the bottom portion prevent vertical displacement of the housing relative to the terminal module. Methods of assembling the electrical connector are also provided.

An electrical connector includes an insulative housing retaining a plurality of contacts therein and surrounded by a metallic seat. A clip includes a frame with corresponding four walls to commonly form a receiving cavity to receive the electronic package therein, and each wall forms a pressing section to downwardly press an upward surface of the electronic package. A pair of latches are formed on a lower side of the frame to cooperate with the pressing sections of the walls to retain electronic package within the receiving cavity to be wholly a sub-assembly for being commonly received within the electrical connector. The clip includes a releasing handle to actuate the corresponding latch, and the releasing handle is positioned in an opening of the seat and intimately above the printed circuit board to function as a foolproof mechanism for loading the electronic package in a right orientation.

A processor socket assembly includes a processor socket, a base frame, a guide member and a carrier. The processor socket is located on a circuit board. The base frame surrounds the processor socket. The guide member is pivoted to an edge of the bottom frame to be rotatable relative to the processor socket, and the guide member has a slot. The carrier detachably engages the slot of the guide member after being combined with a processor and is capable of being rotated with the guide member.

A quick release connecting device includes an actuating retainer and a fixing member movably assembled to the actuating retainer. The fixing member includes a pivot portion and a pivot member movably mounted to the pivot portion; and the pivot member is coupled with a second object. The fixing member includes a limiting section and the pivot member includes a corresponding limiting section, such that the limiting section and the corresponding limiting section limit or stop each other at a specific location when the fixing member is moved or rotated. With these arrangements, the quick release connecting device can be applied to conveniently and repeatedly connect and separate a circuit board, a drawer, or a window to and from a corresponding rack, chassis, cabinet or window frame.

A retainer assembly includes a CPU and a retaining clip assemble together along an insertion/withdrawal direction perpendicular to a vertical direction of the CPU wherein the CPU forms a pair of sliding grooves, and the retaining clip forms a receiving space, an opening communicating the receiving space with an exterior, and a pair of retaining arms located by two sides of the receiving space and moveable along the pair of sliding grooves for allow the CPU to be received within the receiving space via said opening. The retaining arm may further optimally form a recess to receive a block of the CPU for retaining the CPU with regard to the retaining clip in the insertion/withdrawal direction. The retaining clip may or may not be mounted to the printed circuit board on which an electrical connector is mounted.

Dual connector system having a securing strap

A dual connector system includes a host circuit board and first and second electrical connectors mounted to the host circuit board. The first electrical connector has a housing having a card slot for a module circuit board and the second electrical connector has a housing having an upper mating surface for the module circuit board. The housing has a first side and an opposite second side with connector latching features and holding second contacts at the upper mating surface between the first and second sides. A dual connector module is mated to the first and second electrical connectors. A securing strap is secured to the dual connector module and has a first strap latching feature being latchably coupled to the corresponding connector latching feature to secure the dual connector module to the second electrical connector.

Card retention connector system

An electronic component assembly includes a board having an electronic component, a connector mounted to the board and electrically connected to the electronic component and having an anchoring feature positioned on an exterior of the connector, and a card having another electronic component and a securing feature. The electronic component assembly also includes a movable member positioned on one of the connector or the card. The movable member is positioned in the securing feature and contacts the anchoring feature to secure the card in a seated position in the connector, or the anchoring feature includes the movable member and contacts the securing feature to secure the card in the seated position in the connector.

A mechanism for securing a connector device and a mating connector device to one another and for releasing them from one another, the mechanism having at least one catch arranged on the connector device and a drive with a shaft, the rotation of which is capable of moving the catch to and fro between an open position and a locking position of the catch.
