Thus, signal interference between the terminals can be reduced, and a maximum insertion force of the plug inserted into the electrical connector is reduced.

Various embodiments include a plug receptacle for an electrical plug-in connection for receiving a plug with electrical plug conductor comprising a contact region for electrical connection to the plug receptacle comprising: a housing with an insertion region into which the plug can be releasably inserted; an electrical plug receptacle conductor rigidly arranged in the housing; and an electrical connecting conductor floating in the housing configured to electrically connect the plug receptacle conductor to the plug conductor. The electrical connecting conductor exerts a connecting force onto the contact region of the plug conductor once inserted into the plug receptacle. The connecting force runs substantially orthogonally in relation to said contact region.

Various embodiments include a plug receptacle for an electrical plug-in connection for receiving a plug with electrical plug conductor comprising a contact region for electrical connection to the plug receptacle comprising: a housing with an insertion region into which the plug can be releasably inserted; an electrical plug receptacle conductor rigidly arranged in the housing; and an electrical connecting conductor floating in the housing configured to electrically connect the plug receptacle conductor to the plug conductor. The electrical connecting conductor exerts a connecting force onto the contact region of the plug conductor once inserted into the plug receptacle. The connecting force runs substantially orthogonally in relation to said contact region.

An electrical connector for a circuit card assembly includes a receptacle housing and a mating housing movable relative to the receptacle housing in a connector mating direction. The electrical connector includes contact modules each having a leadframe having signal contacts with a mating conductor, a mounting conductor and a flexible conductor between the mating conductor and the mounting conductor. Each contact module includes an inner dielectric body and an outer dielectric body separate and discrete from the inner dielectric body. The flexible conductors extend between the inner and outer dielectric bodies to allow relative movement of the inner dielectric body in the connector mating direction relative to the outer dielectric body.

A circuit card assembly for a communication system includes a PCB having a slot receiving a second PCB of a second circuit card assembly in a board loading direction. An electrical connector is mounted to the PCB having a receptacle housing and a mating housing movable within the receptacle housing in a connector loading direction along a connector loading axis parallel to the board loading direction. The mating housing is movable in the receptacle housing in a connector mating direction along a connector mating axis perpendicular to the connector loading axis. Contacts of the electrical connector are mated with contacts of the second electrical connector in a contact mating direction parallel to the connector mating axis.

An electrical connector system includes a receptacle connector having a housing, a contact assembly held in the housing and an insert movably received in the housing and supporting the contact assembly. The housing has a cavity and a mating end including a slot receiving a circuit card. The contact assembly is received in the cavity and includes contacts. Each contact has a base fixed in the cavity and a mating end movable relative to the base between an undeflected position and a deflected position. The insert is received in the cavity and is movable in the cavity between a forward position and a retracted position. The insert holds the mating ends of the contacts in the undeflected positions when in the forward position. The insert engages the contacts and forces the contacts to the deflected positions when in the retracted position.

An electrical connector includes a plurality of conductive terminals, an insulating housing that holds the plurality of conductive terminals and that has an accommodating portion to accommodate a flexible printed circuit provided with a plurality of connection terminal portions electrically connected to the plurality of conductive terminals. A metallic reinforcing portion is located in an upper wall portion of a main body portion of the housing that partitions the accommodating portion.
