A female terminal (10) includes a rectangular tubular body (24) extending in a front-rear direction. A first resilient piece (26A) is folded from a bottom wall (16) into the body (24) via a first base end (40), and a second resilient piece (26B) is folded from the bottom wall (16) into the body (24) via a second base end (42) in the same folding direction as the first resilient piece (26A). The second base end (42) is displaced from the first base end (40) in the front-rear direction. The second resilient piece (26B) is closer to the bottom wall (16) than the first resilient piece (26A). The second resilient piece (26B) is pressed by the first resilient piece (26A) and resiliently displaced toward the bottom wall (16) with the second base end (42) as a fulcrum when the first resilient piece (26A) is displaced toward the bottom wall (16).

SHIELDED ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR SYSTEM WITH INTERNAL SPRING COMPONENT

A shielded electrical connector system for electrically and mechanically connecting a component to a power source is disclosed. The connector system includes a male connector assembly with a male terminal, a non-conductive internal male housing that receives the male terminal, and a conductive external male housing that receives an extent of the internal male housing. This terminal includes a receiver and side walls with a contact arm that extends across an aperture in the side wall. An internal spring member with at least one spring arm resides within the male terminal receiver. A female connector assembly includes a female terminal with a receptacle that receives both the male terminal and the spring member. A non-conductive internal female housing receives the female terminal and an extent of the male connector assembly. A conductive external female housing that receives: (i) an extent of the internal female housing, (ii) an extent of the internal male housing, and (iii) an extent of the external male housing.

CONNECTOR

It is aimed to reduce connection resistance between a female housing and a male housing without causing the settling of a resilient contact piece of a female terminal fitting. A female connector (F) includes a female housing (10) configured to accommodate female terminal fittings (20) and to be connected to a male housing (50), and a movable portion (31) displaceable between a terminal deforming position where resilient contact pieces (25) are resiliently deformed away from male terminal fittings (60) and a releasing position where the movable portion is disengaged from the resilient contact pieces (25). As the connection of the female housing (10) and the male housing (50) proceeds, a retainer-side slide-contact portion (32) slides in contact with male-side slide-contact portions (55) and the movable portion (31) is displaced from the releasing position to the terminal deforming position.

A cover has both ends in an extension direction being connected to an insulating member body. A dividing portion formed in a part of the extension direction divides the cover into a first section and a second section. The first section and the second section come into contact with a spring contact when a male terminal contact portion is inserted between a pair of female terminal contact portions. On contact with the spring contact, the first section and the second section elastically deform at least in an opposing direction.
