A connector comprises a first housing, a cam member, and an operation lever. The first housing has a mating portion configured to mate with a second housing of a second connector. The cam member has a cam groove configured to mate with a cam pin provided on the second housing. The cam member causes the second housing to mate with the first housing by sliding in a lateral direction intersecting with a direction of mating to draw the cam pin into the cam groove. The operation lever slides the cam member according to a turning operation. A nipping portion of the connector nips the cam pin in the cam groove when the cam member slides up to a mating completion position at which mating of the second housing with the first housing is completed.

A connector includes a first housing, a second housing, a mate assist slider, and a cam gear. The first-housing has a first outer surface. The second housing is configured to mate with the first housing, and the second housing includes a pin extending from a second outer surface. The connector also includes a mate assist slider moveable from an unmated position to a mated position. The connector also includes a cam gear mounted to the first outer surface. The cam gear moves in response to a movement of the mate-assist-slider from the unmated position to the mated position. The cam gear has a cam slot with an inertial detent. A vibratory feedback is provided to an assembler indicative of a properly positioned connector housing when the pin is moved past the inertial detent.

Lever and Header Gear Tooth Engagement to Prevent Premature Connector Mating

A connector assembly has a first connector and a second connector. The first connector has a first connector housing. A lever is rotatably mounted relative to the first connector housing. The lever has lever arms with projections provided at free ends of the lever arms, The second connector has a second connector housing. A lever receiving recess with at least one latching projection is provided in the second connector housing. The at least one latching projection is configured to cooperate with the projections of the first connector housing. The lever is rotatable between a pre-insertion position and an insertion position. The cooperation of the lever with the lever receiving recess prevents the premature mating of the first connector housing to the second connector housing as the lever is moved between the pre-insertion position and the insertion position.

Vehicle electrical distribution center with gear driven mating assist system

An automotive electrical distribution center assembly includes a mounting frame, a first pair of stacked gears rotatably attached to a side of the mounting frame and a second pair of stacked gears rotatably attached to an opposite side of the mounting frame, a moveable driver surrounding the mounting frame and defining four first linear gear racks that each engage a first gear of the first and second pairs of stacked gears, and an electrical distribution center attached to the driver. The electrical distribution center defines four second liner gear racks that each engage a second gear of the first and second pairs of stacked gears. Linear movement of the driver relative to the mounting frame causes rotational movement of the first and second pairs of stacked gears, thereby causing linear movement of the electrical distribution center to relative the mounting frame.

Connector Housing, Mating Connector Housing Assembly and Connector Assembly

A connector housing includes a peripheral wall and a rack part formed on an outer surface of the peripheral wall. The rack part has an inner side and an outer side opposite the inner side in a width direction. The inner side of the rack part is connected to the peripheral wall. The rack part has a first tooth slot and a second tooth slot adjacent to the first tooth slot in a length direction. The first tooth slot meshes with a first tooth on a gear part of a mating connector and the second tooth slot meshes with a second tooth on the gear part. A slot width of the second tooth slot is smaller than the first tooth slot and prevents the first tooth with a tooth width larger than the slot width of the second tooth slot from engaging in the second tooth slot.

A connector having a housing, a slide member, and an operation lever. The slide member slides in response to operation of the operation lever. The slide member has a guide projection and slides while the guide projection is guided in a guide groove of the housing. The slide member has a cam groove that receives a cam pin in a second connector and the slide member, by sliding, performs mating with the second connector. The slide member has a first nipping portion that nips the cam pin when it slides to a completely mated position. The housing has a second nipping portion that nips the guide projection of the slide member when the slide member slides to the completely mated position.

Connector having a mechanism to lock two connector members together

Provided is a connector in which first and second connector members are fitted with each other. The first connector member includes a first housing formed with a protrusion. The second connector member includes a second housing; hood member; elastic member; and locking mechanism. The hood member is to cover and to be mounted with the second housing. The elastic member is to be provided between the hood member and second housing. The locking mechanism is to lock the protrusion. The locking mechanism is operated so that the protrusion is drawn in a fitting direction. After the movement of the first and second connector members in the fitting direction is restrained, the locking mechanism is operated so that the hood member is moved while compressing the elastic member, which fix the locking mechanism with the elastic member being compressed.
