The present teachings provide for an electrical connector including a first housing, power terminals, and first and second shunts. The terminals and shunts are located within a cavity of defined by the first housing. The first housing is configured to mate with a second housing to transfer power between a power storage device and components of an electric or hybrid electric vehicle. The first shunt is configured to complete an interlock circuit. The second shunt is configured to complete a service disconnect circuit. The interlock circuit prevents the transfer of power between the first and second housings when the circuit is broken and allows it when complete. The service disconnect circuit causes the power storage device to be substantially electrically isolated from the rest of the vehicle when the circuit is broken.

A connector includes a first housing, a second housing connectable to the first housing, and a lever rotatably supported on the first housing. The lever includes a lever lock portion for holding the first and second housings in a connected state. The first housing includes a first locking portion and the second housing has a second locking portion. The first and second locking portions, are arranged side by side with each other to constitute an integrated locking portion and arranged to be lockable to the lever lock portion with the first and second housings connected.

Connector Assembly

A connector assembly comprises a first connector including a first connector body, and a shaft connected to the first connector body. A lever is rotatably connected to the shaft and is selectively fixable to the first connector body in a caught state. A second connector of the assembly includes a second connector body insertable into the first connector body, a releasing element defined on the second connector body for releasing the lever from the caught state, and a biasing element defined on the second connector body for rotating the lever after being released from the caught state.

A lever-type connector (10) includes wires (24), a housing (14), a cover (32), a lever (16) and a binding band (44). The lever (16) is mounted on the housing (14) for rotation between connection start and connection end positions. The cover (32) includes a wire draw-out portion (34) for bending the wires (24) pulled from the housing (14) and a wire fixing portion (36) for fixing the wires (24) to the wire draw-out portion (34). The wire fixing portion (36) includes a first side wall (38) on an inner side, a second side wall (40) on an outer side and a bottom wall (42) between the first and second side walls (38, 40). Contact of the lever (16) with the second side wall (40) stops rotation at the connection start position. The bottom wall (42) includes two band insertion holes (46) through which the binding band (44) is inserted.

CONNECTOR DEVICE

A connector device comprises a connector and a mating connector. The connector comprises a housing and a slider having a second regulated portion. The mating connector comprises a mating housing having a second regulation portion. The connector is movable between an open position and a closed position. The slider is held by the housing to be movable between a first position and a second position. When the connector is moved to a predetermined position together with the slider which is located at the second position upon a movement of the connector from the closed position toward the open position, the second regulated portion is brought into abutment with the second regulation portion, and a movement of the connector toward the open position beyond the predetermined position is regulated. When the slider is moved to the first position, the connector is movable to the open position.

A connector assembly enables electrically safe disconnection and separation because it is possible to secure an interval between the point of time of separation of interlock terminals and the point of time of separation of power terminals when connectors are separated. The connector assembly can implement two steps of cutting power after restricting a lever in a locked state and then completely disconnecting connectors by additionally operating the lever by including an intermediate locking mechanism that restricts the lever for disconnecting connectors in a state in which interlock terminals of two connectors are separated from each other but power terminals of the two connectors are in contact with each other to disconnect and separate female and male connectors.

High voltage electrical connector

A high voltage electrical connector for electric current connections in vehicles includes a first connector unit and a complementary second connector unit releasably connectable with the first connector unit. A primary locking member is arranged in the first connector unit, and a stationary locking part is arranged in the second connector unit, where the primary locking member is electromagnetically movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the primary locking member is in locking engagement with the stationary locking part preventing the first connector unit and the second connector unit from being released from each other, and in the unlocked position the primary locking member is disengaged from the stationary locking part allowing the first connector unit and the second connector unit from being released from each other.
