Modular networking hardware platform
A modular networking hardware platform utilizes a combination of different types of units that are pluggable into cassette endpoints. The present disclosure enables the construction of an extremely large system, e.g., 500 Tb/s+, as well as small, standalone systems using the same hardware units. This provides flexibility to build different systems with different slot pitches. The hardware platform includes various numbers of stackable units that mate with a cost-effective, hybrid Printed Circuit Board (PCB)/Twinax backplane, that is orthogonally oriented relative to the stackable units. In an embodiment, the hardware platform supports a range of 14.4 Tb/s-800 Tb/s+ in one or more 19″ racks, providing full features Layer 3 to Layer 0 support, i.e., protocol support for both a transit core router and full feature edge router including Layer 2/Layer 3 Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), Dense Wave Division Multiplexed (DWDM) optics, and the like.

CONNECTION BETWEEN A REINFORCED HARNESS AND AN ELECTRICAL COMPONENT
A connection includes a widened reinforcement harness which comprises a reinforced harness, a non-deformable ferrule and a reinforcement portion which has a greater diameter than the reinforcement of the harness, the non-deformable ferrule being arranged around the harness with the reinforcement of the harness folded on the outer side of the non-deformable ferrule, a first end of the reinforcement portion being attached around the folded portion of the reinforcement of the harness, the connection further comprising an integrated coupling connector, a second end of the reinforcement portion of the widened reinforcement harness being attached to a section of the integrated coupling connector. This connection is particularly advantageous for the small harness, wherein the reinforcement of the harness has a diameter which is too small to surround the section of an integrated coupling connector.

ELECTRICAL DATA CONNECTOR
An electrical data connector includes a socket having a socket body that defines a plug connector cavity and electrically conductive shields within the cavity. A plug connector has a plug body telescopically slid into the plug connector cavity. The plug body has an insert cavity and adjacent spring openings, each of the spring openings aligning with a respective one of the shields. A cable head has an insert module telescopically slid into the insert cavity. The cable head includes an electrically conductive fixation element that is fixed to the insert module and fixed to a cable. The fixation element includes integral spring elements that extend generally radially outwardly from the insert module and are each configured to extend through respective spring openings into contact with respective shields.
Electrical connector and connector assembly
An electrical connector includes an inner signal contact, an outer shielding contact, and a cover. The outer contact has a crimping portion including a first crimp wing and a second crimp wing that are bendable towards each other to attach the outer shielding contact to a cable such that ends of the first crimp wing and the second crimp wing extend towards each other when the outer shielding contact is attached to the cable. The cover is configured to cover a braid or a protective layer of the cable that is arranged underneath the ends of the crimp wings when the outer shielding contact is attached to the cable.
