Shallow electrical protection device (GFCI, AFCI, and AFCI/GFCI) system and method
11309667 · 2022-04-19 · ·

A resettable switching apparatus, useful in a GFCI receptacle, has a housing with a face plate and at least one sense transformer core positioned to define a current flow direction through a center cavity that is parallel to the face plate. The GFCI receptacle further includes a space-efficient coaxial configuration in which a mechanical latching arrangement for resetting (i.e., closing) main switch contacts is disposed inside the trip solenoid. A movable carriage for the main contacts spans one end of the solenoid and has a latching portion in the solenoid that engages the inner end of a reset plunger in two sequential states (i.e., unlatched and latched). The mechanical latching arrangement comprises a cam surface coupled to a lifting plate, which is connected to the carriage of the GFCI receptacle. The cam surface is responsible for translating a downward movement to a translational movement to engage the carriage to the rest plunger.

Control system and method for detecting ground fault

A rack BMS detects a ground fault through a circuit embedded therein, and as a master BMS is configured to disconnect all the connections between battery racks and a grid in the case in which the rack BMS detects the ground fault, no more current flows through chassis, thereby protecting the battery racks and ensuring safety of a person using the battery racks.

ELECTRICAL POWER CABEL

To reduce sparks and arcing if an RJ plug is removed from an RJ jack while a PoE signal is present, the jack includes contact terminals for making electrical contact with blades of the plug. At least two primary contact terminals have first engagement portions positioned a first distance from the opening. At least one secondary and/or tertiary contact terminal has a second and/or third engagement portion, which is positioned less than the first distance from the opening. The engagement portions are the last portions of the contact terminals to make electrical contact with corresponding blades of the plug upon removal of the plug. At least one of the first engagement portions is formed of a first material different from a second material used to form at least one of the second or third engagement portions. One of the materials is formed to resist damage from sparks better than the other material.

SLOPED-TOP PROTECTIVE HOOD FOR OUTDOOR ELECTRICAL OUTLETS
20210320466 · 2021-10-14 ·

A protective hood for outdoor electrical outlets or receptacles has an angled top surface, two side panels, and an angled bottom surface having an aperture. In one variant of the protective hood, the aperture in is configured to receive power cords for connection to an electrical outlet over which the protective hood has been mounted, such as an existing electrical outlet installed on a building wall or a power pedestal. In another variant of the protective hood, the aperture in the angled bottom surface is configured to allow an electrical outlet to be installed directly therein, but with the protective hood still being mountable over an electrical outlet on a building wall or power pedestal instead of having an electrical outlet installed in the aperture.

Electrical power inlet connection device and method
11183799 · 2021-11-23 ·

An electrical power inlet connection device, can be attached to portable and/or transitional physical structures. While interacting with tools, an individual may utilize electrical and electronic devices to work on material, where the electrical power inlet connection device can be attached on an inside of, for example, a sawhorse leg. The electrical power inlet connection device has at least one female power outlet and a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) compartment, like those currently utilized near sinks for safety. However, the electrical power inlet connection device can only have a single male power plug. With GFCI, all electrical power inlet connection device applications assure added electrical security. A USB or other electrical/electronic connections can be added to the compartment for connecting to music sources, cell phones, the Internet, etc. within a GFCI compartment.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS USING ELECTRICAL RECEPTACLES FOR INTEGRATED POWER CONTROL, COMMUNICATION AND MONITORING
20210249823 · 2021-08-12 ·

An electrical receptacle contains contacts, at least one contact for electrical connection to a hot power line and at least one contact for a neutral power line. A controlled switch, such as a TRIAC, is connected in series relationship between the contact and the hot power line. One or more sensors are provided which detect signals of the hot power line and/or the neutral power line. The processor provides activation or deactivation control to the controlled switch in response to the detected signals that are indicative of conditions relative to the first and second contacts.

ELECTRICAL RECEPTABLE FAULT PROTECTION

An electrical receptacle contains a plug outlet that has a pair of contacts for electrical connection to respective hot and neutral power lines. A controlled switch, such as a TRIAC, is connected in series relationship between the outlet contact and the hot power line. Sensors in the receptacle outputs signals to a processor having an output coupled to the control terminal of the controlled switch. The processor outputs an activation signal or a deactivation signal to the controlled switch in response to received sensor signals that are indicative of conditions relative to the first and second contacts.

Male to male adapter

The invention relates to the novel ornamental and utilitarian features of a module/adapter (e.g. male-to-male power adapter) for safety connecting the output interface of a backup power source (such as the outlet of a generator) with an electric circuit (such as a female duplex power outlet of a typical home). Such connection requires a male-to-male adapter which would be unsafe without the disclosed safety features.
