A method and apparatus is presented for strain relief for mil-spec RF cabling connectors. When the RF signals are carried on the cables, they are either attached to connectors to increase their lengths or they get attached to hardware assembly that receives and transmits RF signals. At connections, strain relief is provided so that any movement of the cables does not convey stress and strain to the points where cable joins the connector or its mate. A concise, space restricted strain relief solution is provided by use of clamp, cover or shrink tubing to transfer cables in all four directions. The concentric cables line up in small dimensions and are replaceable individually as opposed to discard of entire mesh of cables on single cable failure.

A connector device (A) is provided with a board-side connector (10), a mating connector (30) facing the board-side connector (10), an adapter (40) rockably supported in the mating connector (30), a tip part of the adapter being connected to the board-side connector (10), a first guide portion (12) and a second guide portion (21) provided on a tip part of the board-side connector (10) and having outer peripheral surfaces inclined to reduce a diameter toward a tip side, and a guided portion (50) provided on the tip part of the adapter (40) and configured to correct a position shift of the adapter (40) with respect to the board-side connector (10) by sliding in contact with the first and second guide portions (12, 21).

Multiport assembly and associated components

Systems and methods of using a multiport assembly and associated components are disclosed. The multiport assembly can include a multiport device that communicatively couples multiple sets or pairs of connectors, such as optical connectors or electrical connectors, together. The multiport assembly can also include an auxiliary port device that couples to the multiport device to expand the capacity of the multiport assembly. Both the multiport and auxiliary port devices can be selectively configured to receive specific types of connectors by selectively coupling to different types of adapters, where the types of adapters correspond to the types of connectors. When coupled to the multiport or auxiliary port devices, the adapters facilitate the formation of the communication between its corresponding set of connectors.
