A brushed DC motor includes a motor shell, a stator fixed within the motor shell, an armature rotor rotatably disposed inside the motor shell and surrounding by the stator while forming a gap therebetween with magnetic field, and a brush cap connected with the motor shell by covering an installing opening of the motor shell. The brush cap includes a base layer, an electric circuit layer formed on the base layer, at least one pair of brush frames affixed thereon symmetrically, and at least one pair of brushes respectively installed in the brush frames and electrically connected with the electric circuit layer adapted to receive current and conduct to the armature rotor for driving an output end of the armature rotor to rotate with respect to the stator.

Motor Brush Quick Change Assembly

A motor brush quick change assembly that includes brush units and electrical spring contacts. The brush units include a carrier with a housing and a brush. The electrical spring contacts are connected to an electrical device. Each of the brush units is configured to be removably attached to the electrical device to contact one of the electrical spring contacts. The brush unit thus provide for both a mechanical and electrical connection to the electrical device. The brush units are configured to prevent the need for separate electrical leads that require separate attachment and detachment to the electrical device. This design provides for straight-forward removal and replacement that can be performed by a robotic device or an operator.

Commutator brush and rolled-up spring assembly

A universal motor includes a commutator brush with a cavity for sheltering a constant force spring from a wire shunt. In some examples, the cavity can be formed by milling a blind hole into the brush such that an axial centerline of the hole is perpendicular to the brush's length. The cavity is near the back end of the brush, at the end farthest away from the commutator, but is also slightly forward to leave a rear portion of the brush to serve as a barrier between the wire shunt and the spring. The diameter of the cavity is slightly larger than the width of the brush, so the cavity creates a slot in the side of the brush. The slot allows part of the spring to reach out beyond the cavity to where the spring can hook onto a front edge of a stationary sleeve that supports the brush.
