Thin-film filter for tunable laser
A thin-film device for a wavelength-tunable semiconductor laser. The device includes a cavity between a high-reflectivity facet and an anti-reflection facet designed to emit a laser light of a wavelength in a tunable range determined by two Vernier-ring resonators with a joint-free-spectral-range between a first wavelength and a second wavelength. The device further includes a film including multiple pairs of a first layer and a second layer sequentially stacking to an outer side of the high-reflectivity facet. Each layer in each pair has one unit of respective optical thickness except one first or second layer in one pair having a larger optical thickness. The film is configured to produce inner reflectivity of the laser light from the high-reflectivity facet at least >90% for wavelengths in the tunable range starting from the first wavelength but at least <50% for wavelengths in a 25 nm range around the second wavelength.
OPTICAL DEVICE
The optical device includes a magnetic element including a first ferromagnetic layer, a second ferromagnetic layer, and a spacer layer sandwiched between the first ferromagnetic layer and the second ferromagnetic layer, and a laser diode. At least a part of light emitted from the laser diode is applied to the magnetic element.
OPTICAL DEVICE
The optical device includes a magnetic element including a first ferromagnetic layer, a second ferromagnetic layer, and a spacer layer sandwiched between the first ferromagnetic layer and the second ferromagnetic layer, and a laser diode. At least a part of light emitted from the laser diode is applied to the magnetic element.
Optical module
An optical module includes a light-forming unit to form light. The light-forming unit includes a base member having an electronic temperature control module, a base plate, a plurality of submounts, and a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) base. The light-forming unit also includes a plurality of laser diodes arranged on the submounts, a filter arranged on the base plate and located to receive the light emitted from the plurality of laser diodes and multiplex the emitted light, a MEMS arranged on the MEMS base and located to receive the light multiplexed by the filter. The MEMS includes a scanning mirror to scan the light multiplexed by the filter, and the electronic temperature control module regulates a temperature range of the MEMS. The light-forming unit also includes a protective member surrounding and sealing the light-forming unit, which includes a base body and a lid welded to the base body.

An optical waveguide package includes a substrate, and an optical waveguide layer on an upper surface of the substrate. The optical waveguide layer includes a cladding and a core in the cladding. The cladding has at least one first recess having a bottom surface and a first inner wall surface surrounding the bottom surface. The first inner wall surface of the at least one first recess is inclined and has an upper side outward from a lower side.

A surface mountable laser driver circuit package is configured to mount on a host printed circuit board (PCB). A surface mount circuit package includes a lead-frame. A mirror driving mechanism includes a plate-shaped base portion, a mirror that is installed at the base portion, and a temperature detecting section that is installed at the base portion and that detects a temperature of the base portion. The base portion includes a thin portion that is disposed away from an outer edge of the base portion and that has a through hole extending through the base portion in a plate-thickness direction of the base portion, a thick portion that is connected to the thin portion, that is thicker than the thin portion in the plate-thickness direction of the base portion, and that extends along the outer edge so as to surround the thin portion, and a first shaft portion extends into the through hole from an outer periphery of the through hole.
LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE
A light emitting device includes: laser diodes (LDs); a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) including optical waveguides; and a lens. The optical waveguides include: a first optical waveguide to receive first light emitted from a first LD and to emit the first light from a first light-exiting end; and a second optical waveguide to receive second light emitted from a second LD and to emit the second light from a second light-exiting end. The first light-exiting end causes refraction such that the first light exits in a first direction. The second light-exiting end causes refraction such that the second light exits in a second direction. A distance from the first light-exiting end to the lens along the first direction is shorter than a distance from the second light-exiting end to the lens along the second direction.
RADIATION-EMITTING DEVICE
In at least one embodiment, the radiation-emitting device comprises a laser bar for emitting laser radiation. The device further includes a waveguide having a core, a cladding, an entry face, and an exit face. The device may include a heat sink having a mounting side where the waveguide is applied thereon, the cladding being arranged at least above and below the core in relation to the mounting side. The device may be configured so that, during operation, the laser radiation impinges on the entry face of the waveguide and passes from there into the core. The core may include a conversion element configured to convert the laser radiation into secondary radiation. The waveguide may be configured to guide the laser radiation and/or the secondary radiation inside the core as far as the exit face by reflection at the interface between the cladding and the core.
